Quality Inspector

Job Description: Quality Inspection Engineer / Inspector

Location: Bangalore

Reports To: Head of Production

Department: Quality

Team Structure: Part of QA team (small team environment)

Job Purpose

Ensure that all incoming, in-process, and finished products meet defined dimensional and quality standards through disciplined inspection practices, accurate reporting, and implementation of structured quality control processes aligned with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Incoming Quality Control (IQC)

·        Inspect raw materials, machined parts, sheet metal parts, plastic components, and assemblies

·        Verify dimensions, tolerances (up to second decimal accuracy), hardness, and visual quality

·        Approve / reject materials based on drawing and specification compliance

·        Coordinate with suppliers for non-conforming materials

In-Process Inspection

·        Conduct stage-wise inspection during production

·        Verify critical dimensions and tolerances

·        Ensure adherence to drawings and process specifications

·        Immediately highlight deviations to production team

·        Prevent rework and rejection through early detection

Final Inspection

·        Perform final dimensional and functional inspection

·        Verify assembly quality and fitment

·        Ensure documentation is complete before dispatch

·        Approve finished goods for shipment

Supplier & Customer Quality Support

·        Follow up with vendors for quality issues

·        Support root cause analysis for supplier defects

·        Assist in handling customer complaints

·        Participate in corrective and preventive action implementation

Documentation & Reporting

·        Prepare inspection reports and maintain records

·        Record data in Microsoft Dynamics ERP

·        Maintain traceability of inspected parts

·        Maintain calibration records of measuring instruments

Quality System Development (Important Responsibility)

·        Implement structured inspection procedures

·        Develop basic inspection checklists and formats

·        Introduce control plans where required

·        Support implementation of industry quality practices

·        Move organization toward structured quality management standards

Tools & Equipment

·        Vernier calliper

·        Micrometer

·        Height gauge

·        Go / No-Go gauges

·        Hardness tester

·        Surface plate and basic inspection tools

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

·        Reduction in internal rejection rate

·        Reduction in customer complaints

·        Zero dispatch of non-conforming products

·        Timely inspection without delaying production

·        Supplier rejection trend improvement

·        Inspection documentation accuracy

Qualifications & Experience

·        3–5 years of experience in quality inspection in manufacturing

·        Experience in machined components and plastic moulded parts preferred

·        Diploma / ITI in Mechanical or related field preferred

·        Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

·        Understanding of tolerances and fits

Skills & Competencies

·        Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

·        Basic computer skills

·        Strong dimensional measurement skills

·        Good understanding of manufacturing processes

·        Ability to work under production pressure

·        Basic knowledge of root cause analysis

·        Familiarity with ERP systems

·        Strong attention to detail

·        Practical problem-solving mindset
