Quality Inspector

1. Education & Qualification

• Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• ITI + strong metrology experience (acceptable for operator-focused roles)

2. Experience

• Operator: 1–3 years
• Programmer: 3–6+ years
• Hands-on experience in shop-floor & lab CMM operations

3. CMM Machine Knowledge

• Experience with Bridge CMM
• Contact & non-contact probing systems
• Zeiss probes
• Understanding of fixture setup & part alignment

4. CMM Software Skills

• CALYPSO

Must be able to:

• Create offline & online programs
• Modify programs for revision changes
• Optimize cycle time

5. GD&T & Metrology Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5 / ISO)
• Datums, profile, position, runout, flatness, concentricity
• Measurement uncertainty & repeatability
• Calibration concepts

6. Drawing & CAD Understanding

• Read and interpret 2D drawings
• Basic 3D CAD understanding (STEP / IGES)
• Ability to correlate drawing callouts with inspection strategy

7. Inspection & Reporting

• First Article Inspection (FAI)
• In-process & final inspection
• Generate reports in Excel / PDF / SPC formats
• Handle customer & internal audits

8. Quality System Awareness

• ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 / AS9100 basics
• Control plans, PPAP, MSA (basic)
• Root cause analysis support

9. Soft Skills

• Attention to detail
• Documentation discipline
• Ability to work with production, QA & engineering teams
• Willing to work shifts (if shop-floor based)

10. Preferred / Value-Added Skills

• Offline programming using CAD models
• Automation & pallet inspection experience
• SPC & statistical analysis
• Automotive / aerospace component exposure
