Roles & Responsibilities of Quality Manager (QM)

Key Responsibilities:

QMS Development and Implementation:

Support new QMS, maintaining, and improving the Existing QMS according to relevant standard viz., ISO 9001:2015; ISO 14001:2015; ISO 45001:2018; IATF 16949:2016; AS9100D in all the business units.

Ensuring the QMS is integrated into all the departments & Processes.

Implementation of quality policies, procedures, and work instructions through the approval of MR.

To provide training to Quality department on the established procedures / Work Instructions on regular basis.

To train production and quality employees on QMS/adherence and maintenance of records.

Audits and Compliance:

Support internal audits to assess the effectiveness of the QMS. Retraining of the respective departments / employees if any NC / variations observed.

Representing and leading the customer audits & managing non-conformities and corrective actions and work for closure of the audit points with evidences.

Monitoring compliance with established quality standards/procedures and regulatory requirements.

Conduct monthly audits in all the departments/sections/units including Quality department.

Training and Communication:

To train employees on quality standards, procedures, WI and Forms.

Communicating quality-related information to relevant stakeholders.

Acting as a liaison between the company and customers, stakeholders regarding quality matters / issues.

Direct and monitor all Line Quality Executives by allotting tasks for smooth functioning of Quality department and to provide guidance / training to achieve the allotted tasks.

Documentation and Reporting:

Preparing and maintaining quality documentation, including procedures, work instructions, and audit reports.

Manage Final Inspection activities along with daily attendance of Inspectors, Weekly shift allotment, Job Extension, etc., and ensure job movement from Quality department to Despatch without deviating Quality of the parts being despatched.

Regular reporting on quality performance both internal & external and support and implement all Continual improvement initiatives.

Risk Management:

Identifying and assessing risks related to quality and safety.

Process Improvement:

Improve the production processes by Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 7QC Tools etc. to improve FPY, RTY, 5 core.

Initiate and drive Lean Six Sigma Projects to reduce internal and external defects.

Train the operators with quality tools and relevant production techniques in order to build quality culture across various production departments.

Reporting to Top Management on the top 10 internal rejections with root cause and corrective / preventive actions.
