Job Description

Role: Senior OT Nurse

Job Purpose:

The Senior OT nurse is responsible for the nursing care and management of the unit assigned. She/ he is also responsible for planning organizing and implementing day-to-day operations including assigning work for various categories of nursing and non - nursing staff working in the unit. The Senior OT nurse handles patient management and also provide safety and comfort to the patients.

Job Responsibilities:

⮚     Develop and implement care plans for surgical patients

⮚     Evaluate surgical patients prior to surgery and in postoperative phases

⮚     Prepare patients for surgery by disinfecting their skin at the operation site and positioning them on the operating table

⮚     Assist surgeon during procedures with duties such as passing medical equipment and monitoring patients’ vital signs

⮚     Provide patients with perioperative care in procedure, operating, and recovery rooms

⮚     Collaborating with surgical teams and other medical professionals on patient medication and post-surgery care.

⮚     Educate patients / other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of postoperative care

⮚     Ensure that the operating room runs smoothly and is stocked with all necessary surgical supplies and equipment

Job Specifications:

• Qualification: B.sc/Diploma Degree in Nursing, GNM Certification
• Experience: Minimum of 5 year of experience as a Senior Staff Nurse

·       Technical Skills / Job related skills: knowledge on the functioning of various OT equipment, record keeping

·       Management Skills: Be a good team player, maintain good people relations, flexibility to work beyond regular hours

·       Communication Skills: Empathetic communication towards patients and others, command on English / Kannada
