VMC Programmer

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled VMC Programmer to develop, optimize, and manage CNC programs for Vertical Machining Centers to ensure high-quality production and efficient machining operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and optimize CNC programs for VMC machines
• Interpret engineering drawings and CAD models
• Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machining strategies
• Set machining parameters for productivity and tool life
• Perform prove-out and first piece inspection
• Reduce cycle time and improve process efficiency
• Support operators during setup and production
• Coordinate with design and quality teams
• Maintain program documentation and revision control
• Troubleshoot machining and programming issues

Technical Skills Required

• Strong knowledge of VMC programming (G-code & M-code)
• Experience with CAM software (NX / Mastercam / SolidCAM / Delcam)
• Ability to read 2D & 3D drawings
• Knowledge of tooling, feeds & speeds
• Experience with fixture planning
• Understanding of GD&T and tolerances
• Familiar with Siemens controllers
• Knowledge of process optimization and cycle time reduction

Qualifications

• Diploma / ITI / BE in Mechanical or related field
• CNC programming certification (preferred)

Preferred Experience

• Experience in precision components / automotive / aerospace / general engineering parts
• Experience with multi-axis machining (3/4/5 axis — if applicable)
• Exposure to inspection tools and quality standards
