Job SummaryWe are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to manage our financial health and ensure tax compliance. You will handle everything from tracking the cost of imported raw materials (fabrics, wood, hardware) to ensuring our sales tax filings are accurate across various jurisdictions. The ideal candidate understands the lifecycle of a product—from procurement to final delivery to the customer.

• Key Responsibilities1. Financial Accounting & OperationsInventory Accounting: Maintain accurate records of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods. Implement "First-In, First-Out" (FIFO) or Weighted Average costing methods.
• Accounts Payable (AP): Process payments for overseas and local suppliers; manage vendor reconciliations for furniture manufacturers and logistics partners.
• Accounts Receivable (AR): Oversee invoicing for retail customers, interior design firms, and wholesale distributors.
• Month-End Closing: Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports specifically highlighting gross margins per product line (e.g., sofas vs. lighting).
• 2. Taxation & ComplianceSales & Use Tax: Ensure accurate collection and remittance of sales tax for both physical showroom sales and e-commerce orders across different states/regions (Nexus compliance).
• GST/VAT/ITR Filing: (If applicable) Handle input tax credit (ITC) reconciliations on raw materials and imported finished goods.
• Corporate Tax: Prepare documentation for annual tax filings and coordinate with external auditors.
• Import Duties: Manage the accounting for customs duties and freight costs to ensure they are properly capitalized into the cost of goods sold (COGS).
• 3. Budgeting & AnalysisMargin Analysis: Analyze the impact of fluctuating shipping costs or material prices (like timber or foam) on the final retail price.
• Overhead Control: Monitor warehouse storage costs and showroom utility expenses.
• Required Skills & QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CA preferred).
• Software Proficiency: Experience with ERP systems (like NetSuite, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics) and specialized inventory software. Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs) is a must.
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with retail accounting, landed cost calculations, and e-commerce tax laws (e.g., Wayfair ruling impacts).
• Attention to Detail: High accuracy in managing high volumes of SKU-level data.
• Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Inventory Accuracy: Minimizing the gap between physical stock and book value.
• Tax Compliance: Zero penalties or late fees on monthly/quarterly filings.
• Days Sales Outstanding (DSO): Keeping the collection period for wholesale clients within 30–45 days.
