Barista – Client-First Interactive Specialty Coffee Shop

Overview

We are seeking a passionate, service-driven Barista to join our interactive specialty coffee shop. This role goes beyond making great coffee—you will guide guests through an engaging and educational coffee experience, ensuring every interaction reflects our commitment to hospitality, quality, and connection.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Interaction

• Provide warm, attentive, client-first service to every guest.
• Engage customers in meaningful conversations about our coffees, brewing methods, flavor notes, and sourcing.
• Guide guests through interactive elements such as tastings, pour-over demos, or brewing recommendations.
• Personalize service based on guest preferences and comfort levels.

Coffee Preparation & Quality

• Expertly prepare espresso-based drinks, pour-overs, and other specialty beverages following precise recipes and standards.
• Maintain high consistency and excellence in drink preparation.
• Continuously calibrate equipment (grinders, espresso machines) to ensure optimal quality throughout the day.
• Stay updated on specialty coffee trends and best practices.

Cleanliness & Shop Operation

• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming café environment at all times.
• Follow health, safety, and food-handling standards.
• Assist with opening/closing duties, inventory management, and restocking.

Team Collaboration & Cultur

• Work collaboratively with fellow baristas and leadership to create a positive, guest-focused atmosphere.
• Communicate effectively during busy periods to maintain flow and service.
• Contribute ideas that enhance hospitality and improve shop operations.

Qualifications

Required

• Previous barista experience OR strong interest in specialty coffee with a willingness to learn.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide warm, genuine, and professional customer service.
• Strong multitasking skills, especially during high-volume periods.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a proactive mindset.

Preferred

• Experience in specialty coffee environments.
• Knowledge of espresso dialing-in, manual brewing, or coffee tasting.
• Passion for educating and engaging guests.
• Basic understanding of coffee origins, processing methods, and flavor profiles.
