Job Description
- Fire & Security Technician – Roles and Responsibilities1. Installation and CommissioningInstall, test, and commission fire alarm systems, fire detection devices, CCTV, access control, intrusion alarms, and related security systems.
- Ensure installations are carried out as per approved drawings, manufacturer guidelines, and relevant codes/standards (e.g., NBC, NFPA, IS).
- Configure control panels, detectors, cameras, and networking components.
- 2. Inspection, Testing, and MaintenanceConduct routine inspections, functional testing, and preventive maintenance of fire and security systems.
- Identify system faults, device failures, or wiring issues and perform corrective actions.
- Maintain system reliability and ensure uninterrupted operation.
- 3. Troubleshooting and RepairsDiagnose technical issues in fire alarm, CCTV, access control, and security systems.
- Repair or replace faulty components such as detectors, panels, cables, power supplies, and batteries.
- Restore systems within agreed response times.
- 4. Compliance and SafetyEnsure all fire and security systems comply with statutory requirements, safety regulations, and client specifications.
- Follow safe work practices, including use of PPE and adherence to permit-to-work procedures.
- Support fire safety audits and inspections conducted by authorities or clients.
- 5. Documentation and ReportingMaintain installation records, test reports, maintenance logs, and service checklists.
- Prepare commissioning reports, fault reports, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Update drawings, system configurations, and asset registers when changes are made.
- 6. Coordination and Site SupportCoordinate with engineers, project managers, and other technicians during project execution.
- Attend site meetings and support system integration with BMS or other building systems.
- Assist in training end users on system operation and basic troubleshooting.
- 7. Customer and Site InteractionCommunicate system status, issues, and recommendations clearly to clients or site representatives.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks with minimal disruption to site operations.
- Maintain professional conduct and customer satisfaction at all times.
- 8. Tools, Materials, and Inventory ManagementHandle tools, testing equipment, and instruments responsibly.
- Monitor spare parts and consumables; report shortages or requirements to management.
- Ensure proper storage and calibration of tools and testing devices.
- 9. Emergency Response SupportAttend emergency call-outs for fire or security system failures.
- Support system restoration during critical incidents and ensure system readiness.
