Job Description
An inside sales representative's job is to sell products or services to customers, either businesses or individuals, by using communication and sales skills. Their responsibilities include:
- Identifying new sales opportunities
- Using industry directories and mailing lists to find new leads, and contacting people who have expressed interest in the company's products
- Researching potential customers
- Gathering information about customers, such as their annual revenue, business needs, and current suppliers, to create personalized pitches
- Building relationships with clients
- Answering customers' questions, resolving concerns, and providing additional information
- Negotiating sales terms
- When a customer agrees to purchase a product, negotiating the terms of the sale, such as a customized sales package or discount
- Collaborating with the sales team
- Directing online leads to sales executives, and sharing best practices to contribute to team success
- Meeting sales goals
- Setting and meeting sales goals and objectives set by leadership
- Keeping up with industry trends
- Staying up to date with industry trends and competitor offerings, adjusting sales strategies as required
