Filling Machine Operator Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Filling Machine Operator to manage high-speed production lines. In this role, you will ensure machines are calibrated correctly, monitor the filling process for errors, and perform routine maintenance to minimize downtime. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Machine Operation: Manage start-up, shutdown, and continuous production runs on automated or semi-automated filling machines.
• Setup & Calibration: Adjust machine settings—such as fill speed, volume, and conveyor alignment—according to specific product requirements.
• Quality Control: Continuously monitor containers for proper fill levels, seals, and print alignment to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance like lubrication and cleaning, and troubleshoot basic mechanical issues or jams as they occur.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of production output, downtime, material usage, and any defects or malfunctions.
• Cleanliness & Hygiene: Adhere to strict sanitation protocols, including Clean-in-Place (CIP) procedures, to maintain a safe and sterile work environment.
• Material Handling: Supply machines with raw materials (bottles, caps, labels) and transfer finished goods to the next stage of the line.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in machine operation is a plus.
• Experience: Prior experience in a manufacturing or production environment, ideally with liquid or food filling equipment.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to use basic hand tools and understand complex mechanical systems.
• Physical Stamina: Capability to stand for long shifts (8-12 hours) and lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly.
• Attention to Detail: Precision in following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and identifying minor product flaws.
• Mathematical Skills: Basic proficiency in arithmetic for weight verification and data recording.

Work Environment

• Fast-paced manufacturing setting with exposure to loud noise and moving machinery.
• Requirement to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hairnets, safety glasses, and earplugs.
• Availability for rotating shifts, weekends, or overtime as needed.
