Job Title: Operation Theatre (OT) TechnicianDepartment: Operation Theatre / Surgical ServicesReports To: OT In-Charge / Nursing Superintendent / Medical SuperintendentJob Role:To assist surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff during surgical procedures by preparing and maintaining a sterile, safe, and efficient operation theatre environment. Responsible for the sterilization, preparation, and management of surgical instruments, equipment, and materials before, during, and after surgery.

• Key Responsibilities:1. Pre-Operative DutiesPrepare the operation theatre before each surgery, ensuring all required equipment, instruments, and materials are available and sterilized.
• Check OT lights, anesthesia machines, monitors, suction apparatus, cautery units, and other surgical instruments for proper functioning.
• Maintain and monitor stock levels of surgical supplies and sterile instruments.
• Assist in patient shifting and proper positioning as per surgical requirement.
• 2. Intra-Operative DutiesAssist surgeons and anesthetists during operations by providing necessary instruments and materials.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and sterile fields throughout the procedure.
• Ensure sponge, needle, and instrument count before and after surgery.
• Handle and label surgical specimens safely for laboratory dispatch.
• 3. Post-Operative DutiesClean, disinfect, and prepare OT for the next procedure.
• Sterilize used instruments and materials.
• Dispose of biomedical waste safely as per hospital infection control policies.
• Assist in transferring patients to recovery or post-operative wards.
• 4. Equipment & Inventory ManagementMaintain OT instruments, ensuring regular servicing and calibration.
• Report any malfunction or shortage to the OT In-Charge.
• Keep records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and OT utilization.
• 5. Documentation & ComplianceMaintain records of OT procedures, materials used, and sterilization logs.
• Ensure adherence to hospital safety, infection control, and quality standards.
• Qualifications:Education:
• 
  
• Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology (DOTT) /
• B.Sc. in Operation Theatre Technology (B.Sc. OTT) /
• Any equivalent recognized course in OT Techniques.
• Experience:
• 
  
• 0–3 years (Freshers with proper OT training can apply).
• Additional Certification (Preferred):
• 
  
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Infection Control or Sterilization Techniques
• Skills Required:Knowledge of surgical procedures and sterile techniques
• Ability to handle surgical instruments and OT equipment
• Strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail
• Teamwork, discipline, and good communication skills
• Infection prevention and biomedical waste management
• Basic computer knowledge for OT records
• Work Conditions:Rotational or emergency shifts, including nights and weekends.
• Exposure to sterilization materials, surgical lights, and biohazards.
• Must strictly follow hospital dress code and safety protocols.

Salary Range:₹15,000 – ₹25,000 per month (depending on qualification & experience)
