Patient Counselor – Ophthalmology

1.     Counselors Acts as an interpreter & extension of the doctors Advices decision, suggestion for the diagnosis made for a surgical procedure or intervention.

2.     Should have good medical knowledge of various ophthalmic conditions & procedures.

3.     Should use exceptional skills to explain the doctor’s diagnosis & treatment assess patient’s economical status affordability & comply with shifting needs.

4.     Responsible to convince the advantage positively on the suggested procedure & fix appointments to carry out the same on behalf of the doctor.

5.     Ensure to be warm, friendly accommodative with all patients & Visitors.

6.     Provide information, suggest alternative means, explain cost effectiveness, short term, long term advantages & disadvantages & flow along with the need of the patients.

7.     Should be able to convince all references by the consultant doctor for suggestive procedure.

8.     Counselor forms an integral part of medical decisions made by doctors. Hence will be a extended mouth piece of the doctors.

9.     Bringing clarity in all queries, convience patients on the requirement & be accommodative in their demand.

10. Ensure to achieve 100% conversions with all referral sent by doctors.

11. Assess patient’s health parameters history & demographic features, socio-economical background & be judgmental in quick decision making.

12. Help patients to decide chose the best option available to their liking.

13. Get information on payment e.g.: Cash, Credit card, Insurance.

14. Assist to fix appointments for all surgical procures.

15. Always be proactive & patient friendly & maintain good report & relation with referring doctor’s patients & visitors.

16. Ensures to capture the amount to be paid the type of payment, date of surgery.

17. Co-ordinate to communicate effectively with consultant doctors, paramedical & administrative personnel/staff with high degree of inter personnel skills.

18. Ensures to come in Uniform & be presentable.

19. Handle all enquires coming through the helpline. Reply appropriately document the same & make follow ups regularly for effective results.
