Job Description

  • 1. Pharmacy OperationsOversee day-to-day pharmacy operations across assigned centers.
  • Ensure timely dispensing of medicines as per doctor’s prescription.
  • Maintain proper storage conditions as per drug specifications (temperature, humidity, FIFO/FEFO).
  • Ensure availability of essential medicines and consumables at all times.
  • 2. Inventory ManagementMonitor stock levels, expiry dates, and batch tracking.
  • Prepare indents based on consumption and minimum/maximum stock levels.
  • Prevent stock shortages, overstocking, and medicine expiry losses.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in HIS/ERP/manual registers.
  • 3. Procurement & Vendor CoordinationCoordinate with procurement team for medicine and consumable purchases.
  • Ensure procurement is as per approved brands and therapeutic committee decisions.
  • Follow up on pending orders and ensure timely delivery.
  • Verify invoices, GRN, and purchase compliance.
  • 4. Compliance & RegulatoryEnsure compliance with Drug & Cosmetics Act and pharmacy regulations.
  • Maintain valid pharmacy licenses and statutory documents.
  • Ensure proper documentation for audits and inspections.
  • Follow NABH / internal quality standards (if applicable).
  • 5. Billing & DocumentationEnsure correct billing of medicines to patients.
  • Maintain patient-wise medicine consumption records.
  • Provide outside purchase details and reports as required.
  • Reconcile pharmacy stock vs billing periodically.
  • 6. Team ManagementSupervise pharmacy staff, duty rosters, and attendance.
  • Train staff on SOPs, storage, dispensing, and documentation.
  • Ensure discipline, performance, and accountability within the team.
  • 7. Coordination with Clinical & Operations TeamsCoordinate with doctors, nurses, and operations team for smooth medication supply.
  • Clarify prescription-related issues promptly.
  • Support patient care by ensuring uninterrupted medicine availability.
  • 8. Reporting & MISPrepare daily/monthly reports on stock, consumption, expiry, and purchases.
  • Submit reports to management within defined timelines.
  • Highlight issues, risks, and improvement opportunities proactively.
  • 9. Quality & Cost ControlMonitor medicine consumption trends to control costs.
  • Reduce local purchases by identifying reliable vendors.
  • Ensure rational drug usage and minimize wastage.
  • 10. Patient Safety & EthicsEnsure patient safety through correct dispensing practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Handle patient or staff queries related to medicines professionally.
