Production Manager

A Sound and Light Production Manager is responsible for the technical planning, execution, and oversight of audio and lighting systems for live events, theatrical productions, or concert tours.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Planning & Design: Collaborate with designers to translate artistic visions into feasible technical setups using tools.
• Budget & Resource Management: Create and manage detailed budgets for equipment rentals, purchasing, and labour.
• Personnel Oversight: Hire, train, and supervise sound engineers, lighting technicians, stagehands, and volunteers.
• Logistics & Scheduling: Develop production calendars and detailed load-in/load-out schedules for equipment and crews.
• Operations Management: Oversee the setup, testing, and operation of PA systems, digital mixing consoles, and lighting rigs.
• Vendor & Client Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for venue managers, equipment vendors, and touring artists to ensure technical riders are met.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of audio signal flow, acoustics, lighting programming, and networking protocols.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex technical failures under high-pressure, live-event conditions.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for managing diverse teams and negotiating with external stakeholders.
• Physical Requirements: Must be comfortable working at heights (ladders/catwalks) and able to lift heavy equipment.
