Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Job Summary: The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for accurate estimation, costing, budgeting, and financial control of construction projects in accordance with Indian construction standards and practices. The role involves preparing detailed quantity take-offs, rate analysis, tender documentation, cost monitoring, and final accounts while ensuring compliance with CPWD specifications, IS codes, and contractual requirements.

The candidate must demonstrate strong expertise in estimation, BOQ preparation, and cost analysis for residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

1. Estimation & Quantity Take

• OffPrepare detailed quantity take-offs from drawings (architectural, structural, and MEP).
• Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) as per CPWD / PWD / client specifications.
• Perform detailed rate analysis based on current market rates and Schedule of Rates (SOR).
• Prepare abstract cost estimates, detailed project reports (DPR), and preliminary budgets.
• Verify quantities for civil, finishing, and MEP works.

2. Cost Planning & Budget Control

• Develop project budgets and cost plans.
• Monitor project costs against approved budgets.
• Prepare cash flow statements and cost forecasts.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering.
• Conduct cost variance analysis and recommend corrective actions.

3. Tendering & Procurement

• Prepare tender documents and commercial bid comparisons.
• Evaluate contractor quotations and prepare comparative statements.
• Assist in vendor selection and price negotiations.
• Review subcontractor bills and certify payments.

4. Billing & Contract Management

• Prepare RA bills and final bills.
• Verify contractor measurements at site.
• Manage variations, extra items, and deviation statements.
• Maintain documentation for claims and dispute resolution.
• Ensure compliance with contract terms and Indian standard codes (IS codes).

5. Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, and site teams.
• Prepare weekly and monthly cost reports.
• Support audit requirements with proper documentation.
• Maintain accurate project cost records.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering / Quantity Surveying.
• Strong knowledge of CPWD specifications, State PWD SOR, IR USSOR and IS standards.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and estimation software (e.g., CostX, PlanSwift, or equivalent).

• Good negotiation and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in costing.

Experience

• 1–3 years of experience in estimation and costing in Indian construction projects.
• Experience in residential, commercial, or industrial projects preferred.
• Hands-on experience in preparing detailed estimates and handling contractor billing.
