Job Description
- Job Responsibilities – STP & ETP O&M1. Plant OperationsOperate Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) as per approved process design and SOPs
- Ensure continuous, safe, and efficient operation of all treatment units
- Monitor flow rates, pressure, tank levels, and equipment performance
- Maintain treated water quality within statutory norms
- 2. Monitoring & TestingRegular sampling and testing of influent, intermediate, and treated water
- Maintain records for pH, BOD, COD, TSS, TDS, DO, MLSS, and other parameters
- Adjust chemical dosing and process parameters based on test results
- Ensure compliance with CPCB / SPCB discharge standards
- 3. Mechanical & Electrical MaintenanceRoutine inspection and preventive maintenance of pumps, blowers, agitators, compressors, valves, pipelines, and motors
- Attending breakdowns and carrying out corrective maintenance
- Coordination with vendors for major repairs and spares replacement
- Ensure standby equipment readiness
- 4. Electrical, Instrumentation & AutomationOperation and basic troubleshooting of MCC panels, VFDs, PLC/SCADA systems
- Calibration and upkeep of flow meters, pH, ORP, DO analyzers, level sensors
- Maintain proper electrical safety practices and interlocks
- 5. Chemical Handling & DosingProper storage, handling, and dosing of chemicals like alum, PAC, polymer, hypochlorite, acids, alkalis, etc.
- Optimize chemical consumption to reduce operating cost
- Maintain MSDS, safety kits, and PPE compliance
- 6. Sludge & Waste ManagementOperation of sludge handling units like thickener, filter press, centrifuge, drying beds
- Ensure proper sludge dewatering, storage, and disposal as per norms
- Maintain sludge generation and disposal records
- 7. Housekeeping & SafetyMaintain plant cleanliness, hygiene, and safe working conditions
- Follow safety procedures, permit systems, and emergency protocols
- Ensure use of PPE by all operating staff
- 8. Documentation & ReportingMaintain daily log sheets, shift records, and maintenance registers
- Prepare monthly performance, compliance, and consumption reports
- Support statutory inspections and audits
- 9. Compliance & LiaisonEnsure compliance with Pollution Control Board (PCB) consent conditions
- Coordinate with PCB officials during inspections and sample collections
- Assist management in renewals of Consent to Operate (CTO)
- 10. Team Coordination & TrainingSupervise operators and helpers
- Train plant staff on operations, safety, and emergency handling
- Implement best practices for energy and process optimization
