AWS DevOps Support Engineer

Job Summary

Synechron is seeking a skilled AWS DevOps Support Engineer to collaborate with cross-functional teams in designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable cloud-based solutions. The successful candidate will provide technical support, perform code reviews, and implement automation best practices to enhance the organization’s cloud infrastructure. This role is vital in ensuring high availability, security, and efficiency of cloud environments, contributing to the organization’s digital transformation objectives and continuous delivery initiatives.

Software Requirements

Required Skills:

• Strong understanding of cloud platforms, preferably AWS

• Knowledge of other technology platforms such as mobile, IoT, blockchain, or related emerging technologies

• Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Node.js

• Experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Git, JIRA, and Confluence

• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation

• Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, DataDog, or Prometheus

• Familiarity with security standards and protocols in cloud environments

Overall Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand infrastructure requirements and design scalable cloud solutions

• Develop detailed technical specifications and documentation for deployment, configuration, and automation processes

• Perform code reviews, optimize deployment pipelines, and implement automation to improve efficiency

• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues in cloud environments promptly

• Support ongoing transition and migration to cloud infrastructure, ensuring best practices are followed

• Monitor system health, security, and performance, recommending improvements and upgrades

• Stay current with cloud and DevOps technology updates, suggesting new tools and processes

• Provide technical guidance and support to team members on cloud best practices

Technical Skills (By Category)

Programming Languages:

• Required: Python, Java, or Node.js (at least one, with hands-on experience)

• Preferred: Additional scripting languages or automation tools

Databases/Data Management:

• Basic knowledge of cloud data storage solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, DynamoDB) is desirable

Cloud Technologies:

• Required: AWS cloud platform expertise, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and CloudFormation

• Preferred: Multi-cloud experience (Azure, Google Cloud)

Development Tools & Methodologies:

• Version control: Git, GitHub or Bitbucket

• CI/CD: Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or equivalent automation tools

• Agile and Scrum methodologies for project execution

Security Protocols:

• Implementation of security best practices, IAM, VPC configurations, and compliance standards

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting, deploying, or managing cloud infrastructure in an enterprise environment

• Proven experience in cloud orchestration, automation, and deployment pipelines

• Experience with DevOps practices including continuous integration and delivery

• Prior experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management

• Industry experience in finance, fintech, or enterprise sectors is a plus but not mandatory

• Experience supporting high-availability, scalable, and secure cloud environments

Day-to-Day Activities

• Participate in daily stand-up meetings and sprint planning sessions

• Collaborate with development and operations teams to support application deployments and infrastructure automation

• Write, test, and maintain scripts and automation workflows

• Conduct code reviews and troubleshoot deployment or runtime issues

• Implement and monitor cloud security controls and compliance measures

• Manage environment provisioning, scaling, and performance tuning

• Document procedures, configurations, and best practices

• Stay informed about the latest cloud and DevOps trends, suggesting new approaches for continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

• Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or equivalent are advantageous

• Demonstrated ongoing learning in cloud-native tools and practices
