Control Manager - Associate

As a Control Management Associate, you will partner across Risk Management & Compliance to execute risk and control initiatives that uplift the Compliance Risk Assessment within CDS. You will analyze processes, data, and independent feedback to identify control gaps, implement sustainable solutions, and enhance the CDS operating model. You will also design and support analytics and workflow capabilities that improve efficiency, transparency, and risk mitigation across stakeholders

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Build strong expertise in Risk Management & Compliance policies, procedures, processes, risks, controls, and issues in partnership with OLO Governance and Control Management colleagues.
  • Partner effectively with Control Management, OLO, CCOR, Audit, Legal, Technology, and business stakeholders to deliver creative solutions that drive business value, efficiency, and process improvements.
  • Manage and execute applicability reviews and tagging end to end; analyze root causes of hygiene exceptions; coordinate cross-functional queries; recommend tagging decisions with process control managers; and apply final tags in the system of record.
  • Perform thematic analysis to surface challenges across CDS and translate insights into remediation and operating model enhancements.
  • Challenge the status quo to identify process, control, and operating model improvements; draft requirements, analyze data, and design, develop, and implement solutions that improve overall efficiency.
  • Support the design, technical development, troubleshooting, and implementation of analytical tools and workflows using Alteryx, PEGA, and Tableau.
  • Document procedures, job aids, operating models, and dependencies to create clear, auditable artifacts and knowledge continuity.
  • Prepare program and meeting materials; capture minutes; track and follow up on action items to drive accountability and on-time delivery.
  • Identify and report meaningful metrics that evidence the health of the compliance and operational risk and control environment; summarize initiatives for management consumption.
  • Interpret feedback from independent oversight parties; assess gaps across CDS; and ensure remedial measures are implemented to mitigate recurrence of similar issues.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to align tagging and control decisions with the Office of Legal Obligations and firmwide standards.

Required qualifications, skills, and capabilities

  • Significant experience with Compliance and Operational Risk and Controls frameworks, systems, and procedures, including 8+ years across risk and controls assessment, internal controls design and review, control management, internal audit, and project and stakeholder management.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments, act with urgency, and deliver under pressure in changing conditions.
  • Creative problem-solving with a pragmatic, commercially reasonable approach; high attention to detail with consistent quality-checking of own work and the work of others; self-starter operating with minimal daily supervision.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.

Preferred qualifications, skills, and capabilities 

  • Understanding of the impact of laws, rules, and regulations across Market Risk, Credit Risk, Liquidity Risk, and Compliance Conduct and Operational Risk.
  • Advanced automation and analytics skills in Alteryx, PEGA, and Tableau.
  • Experience with Confluence and workflow implementation using automation tools.
  • Experience in Risk Management & Compliance processes within complex, large-scale organizations.
