POSITION DESCRIPTION 

Position: Data Migration Engineer 

Supervisor: Digital Marketing Manager 

Location Bangalore, India  

Department: SEF Marketing 

Contract Duration: 1 Year 

 

 

We are seeking a motivated Junior Data Migration Engineer to join our Stanley Engineered Fastening Digital Platforms team. In this role, you will help transition engineering data from various CAD in PLM, and offline systems into our new Product Information Management (PIM) platform. 

This position is ideal for an early-career professional with strong data handling skills and a technical or mechanical engineering background who is passionate about technical data processing, extraction, and management. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background, a solid understanding of product data, and experience working with PLM and CAD systems.  

You will gain global exposure within a world-class brand and have the opportunity to work with innovative, innovative AI solutions for data extraction. Success in this role requires close collaboration and excellent communication skills, as you will work with multicultural teams across regions, including product managers, engineering, IT, ERP, and web teams. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Extract, populate, and validate SKU-level specifications from engineering documents, (e.g., PDFs, catalogs), CAD files, and PLM systems for migration into the new PIM platform 

  • Structure, enrich, and classify engineering data related to fastening systems and tools; perform data analysis and electronic file management to ensure accuracy in the PIM system 

  • Identify data patterns across SKU families and support enrichment through Excel-driven bulk uploads 

  • Review CAD drawings and engineering files as a source of technical truth, extract relevant specifications, and flag missing or inconsistent information for correction in collaboration with Product Managers and Engineering 

  • Collaborate with the IT team to explore and implement new AI data extraction tools, and analyze, cleanse, and validate data to maintain integrity and consistency throughout the migration and enrichment process 

  • Validate and support asset linkage (images, CAD files, PDFs) within PIM/DAM systems to ensure data is usable for downstream needs such as website display, animations, and visual asset 

  • Coordinate with external vendors to provide step files for the creation of over 1,000 image and animation renders for the PIM and website 

  • Conduct basic data quality checks post-migration to identify gaps, inconsistencies, or incomplete records and support ongoing improvements 

 

Required Skills & Qualifications 

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline 

  • 5 years of experience working with CAD (Primary - SolidWorks, Secondary - CATIA) and PLM systems (Windchill) 

  • Strong experience with large-scale data management and familiarity with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) concepts 

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel or similar tools (bulk uploads, data transformation, validation) 

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy 

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills 

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, global team environment. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Prior experience working with industrial, manufacturing, or engineering products 

  • Experience with Windchill and Solidworks or CATIA 

  • Experience with enterprise Product Information Management (PIM) systems, such as Syndigo or Riversand 

  • Experience with Digital Asset Management (DAM) platforms, including Cloudinary, Bynder, or Aprimo 

  • Experience using AI tools to support data extraction or enrichment
