Data Scientist - Junior

Job Description

Purpose of the Position: Support in building Infocepts’ Data Science practice and work on advanced AI/ML transformation programs that accelerate business value to clients. The position enables Infocepts to meet its business goals by executing on our strategy and deliver data-driven recommendations to our clients.

Key Result Areas and Activities:

Project Delivery - Assist in delivering data science projects through data discovery, cleansing, analysis, feature selection, and building predictive models.

Model Development - Build and optimize machine learning models using Python, R, and ML platforms like SageMaker, AzureML, or Dataiku.

Data Management - Perform data preparation and feature engineering to improve model accuracy and performance.

Innovation and Learning - Experiment with new ML techniques and contribute to the Data Science Center of Excellence (COE) for capability enhancement.

Continuous Development - Enhance skills by learning new tools and seeking mentorship, contributing to personal and team growth.

Essential Skills:

• Experience in statistical programming languages like R and Python, and database query languages such as SQL.
• Proficiency in statistics, including statistical tests, distributions, regression, maximum likelihood estimators, probability, and linear algebra.
• Working knowledge of various ML algorithms used in supervised and unsupervised learning.
• Understanding and application of ML frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with ML platforms such as SageMaker, AzureML, or Dataiku.
• Proven ability to select features, engineer features, and create and optimize classifiers.
• Familiarity with additional ML frameworks and tools beyond the basics.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with data visualization tools.
• Knowledge of statistical methods, such as Bayesian methods or time-series analysis.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience in data science, including a minimum of 12 months with Python and R
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field (Master’s degree is a plus)
