Job Description:

Role Summary

The Demand Planning & S&OP Analyst is responsible for executing the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process for assigned divisions in India. This role ensures strong alignment between demand, supply, inventory, and business priorities to deliver high customer service while optimizing working capital. The position works closely with cross-functional teams across Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Customer Service, and partners with global supply chain teams to deploy best practices.

Primary Responsibilities

S&OP & Demand Planning

  • Lead the end-to-end S&OP process, ensuring alignment between demand and supply plans for assigned divisions.

  • Review statistical demand forecasts, analyze internal and external demand drivers, and continuously improve forecast accuracy.

  • Collaborate with business leaders to incorporate qualitative inputs and finalize consensus demand forecasts.

  • Track forecast accuracy and bias; analyze demand variances and drive corrective actions.

Supply Planning & Capacity Management

  • Develop and maintain short-, mid-, and long-term supply plans based on demand forecasts, production capacity, and inventory policies.

  • Monitor capacity requirements, special orders, service levels, and inventory performance.

  • Identify capacity constraints, escalate risks, and coordinate mitigation plans with manufacturing plants, contract manufacturers, and procurement teams.

  • Ensure timely product availability while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.

Inventory & Portfolio Management

  • Optimize planning parameters such as lot size, order quantity, replenishment frequency, and production cycles.

  • Drive reduction of non-working and excess inventory through proactive demand corrections and liquidation initiatives in collaboration with Sales and Customer Service teams.

  • Assess product lifecycle stages and support SKU portfolio optimization to improve supply chain efficiency and profitability.

Execution & Customer Service

  • Manage product flow to support timely and reliable customer fulfillment.

  • Review customer backorders and coordinate with cross-functional teams to minimize service disruptions.

  • Identify opportunities to improve customer service levels, reduce inventory investment, and enhance end-to-end supply chain efficiency.

Data Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure integrity and governance of demand planning data in line with 3M policies and global standards.

  • Lead local process and capability improvements and support adoption of global best practices.

  • Support productivity initiatives, system enhancements, ERP implementations, and supply chain transformation projects.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Commerce, or Supply Chain–related disciplines.

  • MBA / Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or Logistics is preferred.

Experience

  • 8–12 years of experience in Demand Planning, S&OP, Supply Planning, or Integrated Business Planning roles.

  • Experience working with manufacturing plants, contract manufacturers, and regional supply networks in India.

  • Strong cross-functional experience partnering with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Procurement, and Customer Service.

  • Exposure to ERP and advanced planning systems (e.g., SAP APO / IBP, Oracle, Kinaxis) is preferred.

  • Experience supporting system implementations or transformation initiatives is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of S&OP / IBP frameworks and demand planning methodologies.

  • Advanced analytical skills and proficiency in Excel and planning systems.

  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, multi-business environment.
