Electronics System Lead

Job Opening for UAV Electronics Lead at Larsen & Toubro PES

L&T is India’s biggest private company supplying defense equipment’s with over 40 years of experience in this field. We provide indigenous, design to deliver solutions across defense spectrum from land based weapon systems, air defense and artillery systems, unmanned systems, naval weapon systems, communication systems, avionics, C4I and missile systems.

L&T is part of the development ecosystem of large and strategic Unmanned Aerial Vehicles along with the ab-initio development of tactical UAV’s. These unmanned platforms provide a technological edge to forces on ground and greatly contribute to our security. Current role is towards the development efforts of these platforms, from inception to user trials and offers immense job satisfaction.     

Responsibilities:

  1. Avionics / Ground Control System Architecture & Design: Define avionics system architecture including Flight Control Computers (FCC), Autopilot and Navigation Systems, Communication Links (LOS/BLOS), Payload Interfaces, Power Distribution & Redundancy, Develop system-level requirements, ICDs, and design documentation.
  2. Integration & Verification: Lead integration of avionics subsystems with Airframe, Propulsion, Ground Control Stations (GCS), Mission Payloads.
  3. Manage verification and validation activities including HIL/SIL testing, Flight test readiness.
  4. Develop electronics system compliant to MIL STD 461 and JSS 55555.
  5. Safety-Critical and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with aviation standards such as DO-178C (Software), DO-254 (Hardware), DO-160 (Environmental Testing), Support certification and airworthiness documentation.
  6. Provide technical mentorship and performance guidance.
  7. Drive project execution with schedule, cost, and quality accountability.
  8. Supplier & Partner Management. Manage avionics suppliers, subcontractors, and external partners. Evaluate COTS avionics solutions and customize as required. Ensure supplier deliverables meet program requirements.
  9. Flight Testing Support. Support ground and flight test campaigns, Test planning and instrumentation, Debugging avionics issues during trials, Post-flight data analysis and corrective actions. 
  10. Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Introduce new avionics technologies in Autonomous navigation, Redundant flight control systems, Secure communication and anti-jamming solutions. Drive reliability, maintainability, and scalability improvements.


Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in: Electronics Engineering / Embedded Systems OR Related discipline
  2. 10 - 14 years of experience in avionics / electronics development for UAVs / Aircraft / Defense Aerospace Systems


Technical Skills Required

  1. Strong knowledge of Flight control avionics architecture, Navigation sensors (INS/GPS, AHRS, Magnetometers), Data buses (CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, ARINC, Ethernet), RF communication systems and telemetry
  2. Experience with System engineering processes (V-model), Embedded real-time systems (RTOS)
  3. Familiarity with redundancy and fault-tolerant avionics design, EMI/EMC mitigation strategies, Environmental qualification aspects
