Role & Responsibilities

 

Technology Operations Department: We apply operational excellence to manage Cloud Platforms, Core enabling infrastructure, and Business Applications. Using the ITIL framework, we ensure that our services meet or exceed their service levels while maintaining ISO and SOC2 compliance.

 

Cloud Cost Optimization Team: Our dedicated Cost Optimization Team within the Technology Operations Department focuses on three main areas:

 

Cloud Cost Governance: We help One Platform customers follow best practices and standards for cloud usage, licensing, tagging, security, compliance, and quality, ensuring secure and compliant cloud operations.

 

Cloud Cost Optimization: We provide customized advice, solutions, and recommendations based on consumption patterns based on the FinOps framework to help One Platform customers reduce cloud costs and improve efficiency.

Focus areas include Cloud Rate Optimization, Cloud Usage Optimizations, Azure Reservations, and Savings Plans.

 

Cloud Cost Transparency: Powered by Apptio technology, our solutions deliver quality billing data and visual cost insights on cloud usage, helping customers track spending and plan budgets effectively.

Features include support for real-time decision making, visualization of cloud usage and costs, cost performance tracking, and One Platform billing and reporting.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

• Run daily automation scripts to prepare reports for daily stand-up meetings
• Analyze, coordinate and resolve Cost management tickets
• Maintenance of the Apptio tools such as Cloudability
• Maintenance of Commitment Discounts and proactive management of orphaned or under-utilized commitments
• Update Azure tags and drive tag improvement activities
• Proactive detection and advice on cost management opportunities following best practice guidance
• Management of third party SLAs by analyzing outage notifications and root cause analysis reports
• Maintenance of internal reporting on cost avoidance, billing and SLA management

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

• Request Management

Action on assigned tickets and provide updates via ServiceNow related to Azure reservations

• Recommendations and analysis

Provide recommendations on Azure reservations and prepare reports as and when requested by KPMGI OnePlatform Ops leadership pertaining to the cost management activities and follow up with respective owners.

• Orphaned resources

Management of orphaned resources generated out of scenarios like incorrect tagging.

 

• Commitment Discounts

Management of utilization of various types of commitments along with recommendations.

• SLA Management

Review Cloud vendor incident reports and proactively raise and manage SLA requests for incidents that potentially missed SLA..

• Reporting

Prepare daily operational reports using Python scripts. Manage ad-hoc cost avoidance reports and monthly statistics

Knowledge Requirements:

                             

• Understanding of ITIL processes, SLAs, KPIs, cost of service, and risk and security.
• Excellent communication skills in English, verbal and written, across all organizational levels.
• Experience with IT financial and FinOps models. FinOps Practitioner certification is preferable.
• Intermediate or higher level MS Excel skills
• Experience with running Python or PowerShell scripts
• Recognized as a cost optimization specialist in Azure, with advanced technical and commercial knowledge of the MS Azure catalog, including Azure certifications, hands-on experience with Azure services,  and Azure DevOps, and expertise in advising, designing, and optimizing solutions.
• Strong analytical skills for analyzing and reporting cloud consumption data. Experience in advanced data analysis for optimizing cloud resource usage with familiarity with IBM’s Apptio Cloudability and Apptio One (TBM) as well as Microsoft PowerBI

 

Education and Experience:

 

• Minimum of 5+ years in Cloud FinOps, cloud cost management, or cloud engineering with a strong emphasis on cost optimization. 
• Hands-on experience with native cost management tools and services provided by cloud providers, preferably Azure.

 

Additional Requirements:

 

CERTIFICATIONS:

• FinOps certifications such as FinOps Certified Practitioner and Cloud Financial Management certifications.
• Relevant cloud certifications, particularly in Azure (e.g., AZ 900, AZ 104) are a plus.
