Head of Engineering Practice, Director
Join us as our Centre of Excellence Lead
- We’ll look to you to lead and grow our Centre of Excellence (CoE), while setting its standards and policies to make sure they align with the strategic outcomes of our IT operating model
- Day-to-day, you’ll be line managing a team of specialist professionals to drive the creation and amendment of the standards and policies adhered to by our CoE

What you’ll do
Your daily responsibilities will see you managing the capabilities and capacity of your team, to make sure we can provide a high level of service to our customers, and maintaining relationships with stakeholders at different levels, including senior management.
Alongside this, you’ll be providing your team’s strategy, planning and status updates and making sure that efficiency targets and financial budgets are met. You’ll also be contributing to the specialism of your CoE and cross-sharing best practices with their Community of Practice.
Your top priorities will include:
- Ensuring the CoE is operating in line with industry leading practices and trends
- Governing, implementing and adhering to the CoE’s standards, principles and policies
- Making sure that a knowledge repository is created and updated with the latest information, lessons learnt and industry best practices
The skills you’ll need
To be successful in this role, you’ll have an expert understanding of the regulatory and statutory reporting business and the key responsibilities of a function and experience of running large, ideally technical, teams.
Furthermore, you’ll need:
- Business and systems analytical skills and the ability to convert a business ask into a technical solution
- Leadership capabilities and an understanding of how to create and share a wider organisation’s vision
- Great communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to your peers and management level colleagues
- Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills and a background of working in an Agile or DevOps environment with continuous delivery and continuous integration
- An expert understanding of running senior governance forums
