IBM BAW Developer – BPM Solutions, Workflow Design & Java
Job Summary
The IBM BAW Developer at Synechron is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting business process automation solutions using IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW) and other BPM technologies. This role transforms business operations by delivering scalable, efficient workflow systems, aiding Synechron’s mission of optimizing organizational processes through digital innovation.
Software Requirements
Required:
Proficiency in IBM BPM/BAW software for workflow design, modeling, implementation, and maintenance
Hands-on experience with workflow and modeling tools such as Visio or BPMN notation
Programming skills in Java and JavaScript; familiarity with scripting languages like Python
Relational database experience with Oracle or SQL Server, including SQL query development
Working knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies
Preferred:
Experience with other BPM platforms (Appian, Pega)
Familiarity with NoSQL databases and cloud technology environments
Overall Responsibilities
Design and develop BPM solutions aligned to business requirements using IBM BAW and related software
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to map processes, identify automation opportunities, and drive digital transformation
Create, implement, and optimize workflow models to streamline and automate business operations
Maintain and support BPM systems, including upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting
Provide technical support, bug fixes, and participate in the quality assurance process for BPM solutions
Document system processes and contribute to user and technical knowledge bases

Experience Requirements
Minimum 5 years of BPM and process automation experience, especially with IBM BAW
Proven track record of delivering BPM projects in enterprise environments
Experience with workflow design, testing, and ongoing support
Alternative pathways: Candidates with hands-on enterprise automation project delivery in other major BPM systems will be considered
Day-to-Day Activities
Engage in requirements sessions and process workshops with business stakeholders
Design, develop, and test BPM workflows and automation models
Collaborate with QA and support teams to ensure solution robustness and integration quality
Maintain BPM systems, monitor performance, and apply software upgrades or bug fixes as needed
Troubleshoot system and workflow issues, provide technical support for stakeholders
Prepare and update documentation relevant to workflows, processes, and configuration
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related discipline
Preferred: Professional certification in IBM BPM/BAW or other BPM software
Ongoing training and participation in BPM or process automation forums
