India - Software Development Engineer

Job Summary:
We are looking for an Operations Support Engineer to support and maintain large-scale data platforms and production systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with big data technologies, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work closely with engineering and business teams to ensure high system reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Production Support

Provide L1 production support for data processing pipelines and analytical platforms.
Monitor batch and streaming jobs, ensuring SLA adherence and system stability.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for production incidents and implement corrective/preventive actions.
Troubleshoot and resolve code-level issues in data pipelines written in Python, SQL, Hive, Spark, or Scala.

Data & Platform Support

Support and maintain Hadoop-based ecosystems (HDFS, YARN, Hive).
Debug and optimize Hive queries and SQL scripts for performance and reliability.
Assist in operationalizing Spark jobs (batch/streaming) and ensuring stable execution.
Validate data quality and investigate data discrepancies exposed by downstream users.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Work closely with Data Engineers, Business Analysts, and Platform teams to resolve issues.
Contribute to runbooks, SOPs, and operational documentation.
Identify automation opportunities to reduce manual operational effort.
Participate in post-incident reviews and drive system reliability improvements.

Required Technical Skills (Must-Have) :
Tech skills - SQL, Apache HIVE, Hadoop Ecosystem,Python,Linux/Unix/ Data pipelines & ETL

Strong SQL skills for querying and debugging large datasets.
Hands-on experience with Hive (HQL, partitions, performance tuning).
Working knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, YARN).
Proficiency in Python for scripting, debugging, and automation.
Experience in troubleshooting production code issues and logs.
Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
Understanding of data pipelines, ETL workflows, and batch processing.
Additional / Preferred Skills (Good to Have) :
Tech skills - Elastic Search, GO, Knockout.js, React, Node.js, Dotnet

Hands-on experience with Apache Spark (batch and/or streaming).
Programming experience in Scala for Spark-based applications.
Knowledge of job schedulers (Airflow, Oozie, or similar).
Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure / AWS / GCP) – optional.
Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation.

Operational Skills

Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Experience supporting mission-critical production systems.
Ability to work under pressure and handle time-sensitive incidents.
Good communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams.



Education
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
