Join Guidewire’s Professional Services team in Bengaluru as a Lead Consultant (QA), where you’ll lead a team of quality engineers to deliver high‐impact, cloud and AI‐enabled solutions for global P&C insurance customers. In his customer‐focused role, you’ll drive testing strategy, automation, and continuous improvement to ensure fast, high‐quality releases in a complex, enterprise environment.

Job Description

What you’ll do
● Lead and mentor a team of QA engineers, providing coaching, feedback, and technical guidance to build deep quality expertise.
● Own end‐to‐end QA strategy and execution for your area, ensuring high‐quality, on‐time delivery of new features, enhancements, and defect fixes.
● Partner closely with engineering, product, and Professional Services teams to embed “shift‐left” testing practices and improve quality earlier in the development lifecycle.
● Define and evolve test approaches across functional, regression, integration,
performance, and non‐functional testing for complex, cloud‐hosted applications.
● Drive the transition from manual to automated testing, including identifying automation opportunities, prioritizing coverage, and coordinating with automation engineers.
● Use CI/CD pipelines and modern QA tooling to increase test coverage, reduce cycle time, and improve release confidence.
● Identify recurring issues, contribute to root‐cause analysis, and lead initiatives that eliminate defects and improve platform reliability over time.
● Provide guidance on QA best practices for cloud deployments, environments, and data,
ensuring alignment with Guidewire’s test standards and Product Test Strategy.
● Collaborate in a global, hybrid team environment, communicating clearly with stakeholders across time zones to manage expectations and report risks, status, and mitigation plans.

Required skills and experience
● Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and apply it to your role, using data‐driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.
● 8 - 12 years of experience in software testing / QA, including significant experience in leading QA efforts for complex, enterprise or SaaS products.
● Strong knowledge of the full QA lifecycle (test planning, design, execution, defect management, and reporting), with proven experience improving test strategy and processes.
● Hands‐on experience with API and UI test design and execution, including use of BDD or similar frameworks; exposure to tools such as Karate or TestCafe is a plus.
● Practical experience working with CI/CD tools (for example, Jenkins, TeamCity, GitHub Actions or similar) and integrating automated tests into pipelines.
● Solid understanding of modern application architectures (e.g., microservices, REST APIs, cloud‐native patterns) and how they impact testing.
● Strong debugging and root‐cause analysis skills, able to collaborate with developers to isolate issues across application, integration, and data layers.
● Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non‐technical stakeholders .
● Proven experience working in Agile teams (Scrum, Kanban or similar), including active participation in planning, estimation, and retrospectives.
● Proficiency in Japanese ( preferably N1 or N2 level certification) is required.

Preferred qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
● Experience leading QA teams or workstreams in a Professional Services, consulting, or Japanese customer‐facing delivery environment.
● Background testing cloud‐hosted or SaaS applications (preferably on AWS), including familiarity with environment management, test data strategies, and
monitoring/observability concepts.
● Knowledge of Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domains (policy, billing, claims) or prior experience testing core insurance systems.
● Experience with performance, load, or reliability testing in addition to functional testing.
