Role Overview - Support Engineer L4 (Nuxtanix)

The support engineer will provide operational support for Windows Server, virtualization platforms, and Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) solutions such as VxRail, Nutanix, Simplivity, and VxRack.
This role is responsible for day-to-day monitoring, incident resolution, patching, backup support, and VM operations. The engineer will act as the second-level escalation point for operational issues and ensure smooth functioning of Wintel and HCI platforms in a 24x7 enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor Windows server health, VM performance, cluster status, and hardware s across Dell, VMware, and HCI platforms.
• Monitor Citrix servers (if applicable), StoreFront, and user sessions hosted on HCI infrastructure.
• Respond to s related to CPU, memory, disk space, service failures, and hardware faults.
• Perform L2 troubleshooting for login issues, GPO failures, service crashes, OS performance issues, and Event Log s.
• Manage user sessions—disconnect, log off, shadow—and support AD account modifications, access control, and permissions.
• Handle scheduled tasks, local firewall settings, server reboots, and basic OS recovery actions.
• Support daily operations on HCI clusters including node monitoring, VM health checks, and storage usage.
• Handle VM snapshots, vDisk expansions, Nutanix volume/container updates, and clusters.
• Coordinate with hardware vendors (Dell, etc.) for RMA and hardware replacement activities.
• Perform VM lifecycle tasks—creation, deletion, configuration updates, and performance checks.
• Support storage expansions (SAN/Nutanix volumes) and review datastore usage.
• Assist with high availability configuration checks and cluster failover validations.
• Monitor and troubleshoot daily VM backup jobs using Veeam, Commvault, or HCI-native tools.
• Support restore tasks under guidance from L3/SME teams.
• Apply Windows patches via WSUS/SCCM/Intune and assist with cluster patching cycles.
• Update firmware/BIOS (under guidance), and ensure compliance with approved baselines.
• Manage CMDB updates for onboarding/decommissioning of servers.
• Work with L3, SMEs, and vendor teams for escalation of complex issues.
• Ensure proper documentation of incidents, resolutions, and standard operating procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across Wintel and HCI operations.

Required Skills & Expertise:

• 4 to 6 years of hands-on experience in Windows Server administration and L2 troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of HCI platforms: VxRail, Nutanix, Simplivity, or VxRack.
• Experience with VM operations (VMware/Hyper-V/AHV), snapshots, performance troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with backup tools like Veeam or Commvault.
• Understanding of Active Directory, GPO, NTFS permissions, RDP access, and user management.
• Basic Citrix knowledge (StoreFront, sessions, policies) is a plus.
• Experience with monitoring tools: SCOM, Prism, SolarWinds, Dell iDRAC, etc.

Must-Have Skills:

• Windows Server L2 support experience.
• Hands-on exposure to at least one Nutanix HCI platform.
• Virtualization operations (VM creation, snapshots, health checks).
• Backup troubleshooting (Veeam/Commvault).
• AD/GPO troubleshooting and user access management.
• Ability to handle L2 incidents and perform guided RCA inputs.

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Exposure to Citrix environment operations.
• Basic automation skills using PowerShell.
• Experience in patching tools (SCCM/WSUS/Intune).
• Knowledge of firmware/driver updates and hardware lifecycle activities.
• Understanding of DR/replication concepts.
