Role Description

Role Overview: We are seeking a Mainframe Batch Support & Optimization Engineer with 5+ years of experience in JCL, COBOL, and mainframe batch processing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying optimization opportunities in batch processes, automating repetitive tasks, and improving overall efficiency and performance in mainframe operations. Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze existing batch processes to identify areas for optimization and automation.
• Develop and modify JCL and COBOL programs to enhance batch performance and reduce execution time.
• Implement automation tools and scripts to streamline batch job scheduling and execution.
• Troubleshoot and resolve batch failures, performance bottlenecks, and system inefficiencies.
• Collaborate with operations and development teams to ensure batch processes align with business needs.
• Maintain documentation for batch workflows, automation scripts, and optimization efforts. Required Skills & Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in Mainframe Batch Support & Optimization.
Strong expertise in JCL, COBOL, VSAM, DB2, and IMS.
Experience in batch job automation using Rexx, Control-M, or other schedulers.
Ability to analyze performance issues and recommend tuning and optimization strategies.
Knowledge of mainframe utilities (SORT, IDCAMS, IEBGENER, etc.).
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Preferred Skills:
• Experience with DevOps integration for mainframe automation.
• Familiarity with modernization strategies for legacy batch processes.
