PL/SQL Developer – Data Migration, Optimization & Security in Financial Systems
Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a skilled PL/SQL Developer to design, develop, and maintain robust database solutions that support our core business applications. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Oracle PL/SQL programming, query optimization, and database troubleshooting to deliver high-quality, scalable data solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including application developers, data analysts, and project managers to ensure data integrity, security, and performance in line with organizational standards, supporting our strategic initiatives in data management and analytics.
Software Requirements
Required:
Strong proficiency in PL/SQL (Oracle 11g/12c/19c or higher, 5-7 years of experience)
Expertise in SQL query writing, tuning, and performance optimization
Experience designing and implementing database objects such as tables, views, indexes, and constraints
Familiarity with ETL processes, data transformation, and data migration activities
Version control systems like Git or SVN
Preferred:
Knowledge of Oracle Database architecture and internal mechanisms
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and tools
Experience with cloud-based database environments (e.g., Oracle Autonomous, Cloud SQL)
Exposure to reporting solutions and business intelligence tools
Overall Responsibilities
Develop, test, and deploy PL/SQL procedures, functions, triggers, and packages aligned with project requirements
Optimize and tune SQL queries, database objects, and indexing strategies to improve performance and scalability
Collaborate with application developers to integrate PL/SQL code within business solutions
Perform data validation, transformation, and migration activities to ensure accurate and reliable data management
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly, ensuring high system availability
Document technical specifications, database design, and operational procedures
Review code quality, perform peer code reviews, and ensure adherence to best practices and standards
Support continuous improvement initiatives for database processes and deployment methods
Maintain compliance with security policies, data privacy regulations, and organizational standards
Technical Skills (By Category)
Programming Languages (Essential):
PL/SQL (Oracle 11g/12c/19c preferred, 5-7 years of hands-on experience)
SQL
Preferred:
Additional scripting languages such as Python or Shell scripting for automation
Databases / Data Management:
Oracle database architecture, schema design, and stored procedures
Data transformation, ETL, and data migration experience
Familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra (preferred)
Development & Version Control:
Git or SVN for source code management
Tools & Methodologies:
Data modeling and query optimization techniques
Data warehousing concepts and tools
Agile methodology and basic project management tools (Jira, Confluence)
Security & Compliance:
Data security best practices, access controls, and compliance standards such as GDPR, PCI DSS, or organizational policies
Experience Requirements
5-7 years of professional experience developing and optimizing PL/SQL solutions in enterprise environments
Proven experience supporting data migration, ETL, and complex query tuning activities
Experience working with large-scale databases supporting business-critical applications
Familiarity with financial, trading, or enterprise data systems is a plus
Experience troubleshooting high-volume transactions and ensuring data integrity and security
Day-to-Day Activities
Develop and optimize PL/SQL procedures, functions, triggers, and packages to support business processes
Collaborate with developers and data analysts to implement data transformation and migration activities
Troubleshoot and resolve database issues with minimal impact on business operations
Perform query tuning, index analysis, and performance monitoring
Conduct code reviews and maintain technical documentation for database components
Participate in project planning, daily scrums, and sprint reviews in Agile settings
Support deployment, backup, recovery, and data security operations
Stay updated on new database features, best practices, and industry standards in data management
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
5-7 years of full-time experience in Oracle PL/SQL development in enterprise environments
Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL, and reporting tools is advantageous
Experience working within regulated or financial environments preferred
