Platform Engineering Lead

What the day will look like

As a Platform Engineering Lead you will be responsible for leading team of exceptional Platform Engineers designing and building Aon’s new gen Platform product.

• Lead and manage the Platform Engineering Team, including recruitment, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
• Design and oversee the development of scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure using [AWS/Azure/GCP].
• Collaborate with Cloud Architects to align the platform's architecture with company objectives.
• Establish best practices for infrastructure as code (IAC) implementation and automation.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for efficient application deployment.
• Ensure robust security practices, including access controls, encryption, and compliance.
• Monitor and optimize cloud environments for performance and cost efficiency.
• Coordinate with DevOps and software engineering teams to integrate infrastructure seamlessly.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide innovative solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement through regular assessments and tech stack updates.
• Provide technical leadership in system design, development, and deployment strategies.
• Act as a technical point of contact for cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Stay updated with emerging cloud technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
• Provide guidance to client support / IT teams in establishing best practices for supporting RPC Tyche applications and field support queries from those teams.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

• 7+ years of expreince in Platform Engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience and proven track record of delivering Platform engineering or cloud infrastructure management.
• Proven leadership experience, managing and mentoring technical teams.
• Deep understanding of cloud platforms like [AWS/Azure/GCP] and infrastructure as code tools.
• Extensive knowledge of networking, security, and scalability concepts.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead troubleshooting efforts.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Relevant certifications like [AWS Certified Solutions Architect/Azure Solutions Architect/Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect] are a plus.
• The ability to work independently and know when to escalate or engage other teams for further support.
• Strong written and verbal English communications skills.
