Principal Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Principal AI Engineer

• Architect GenAI platforms and systems with modular design, scalable pipelines, and secure LLM integrations
• Define AI security, privacy, and governance standards — including model context management, output safety, and explainability frameworks
• Drive the adoption of agent orchestration frameworks and protocols for multi-agent collaboration and automation
• Evaluate emerging tools and abstract them into capability-driven design patterns — e.g., orchestration, vectorization, summarization, or autonomous reasoning
• Partner with platform, security, and product leads to shape long-term AI direction across Ecolab Digital Center
• Build reusable components (SDKs, prompt libraries, orchestration templates) to accelerate solution delivery
• Provide technical mentorship to Lead and Senior Engineers; elevate engineering craft through code quality reviews, architecture walkthroughs, and tech talks
• Champion responsible AI practices and ensure model deployments align with enterprise risk, compliance, and ethical standards

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in AI/ML/GenAI systems, with 3+ years in technical architecture or staff-level engineering roles
• Demonstrated expertise in building LLM-integrated systems, embedding pipelines, and agentic workflows in production environments
• Deep understanding of prompt optimization, vector search, context management, and multi-step task orchestration
• Experience with cloud-native delivery (Azure preferred), containerized workloads, and scalable microservices
• Strong grasp of model safety, cost optimization, and observability in GenAI applications
