  • Role Overview 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, deliver, and maintain shared engineering platforms, products, and solutions.
  • Contribute to the design and standards that enable the development team to create highly functional, sustainable, scalable, and high-performing solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Collaborate with business teams, technical leaders, software engineers, and architects to identify the appropriate architecture and design while developing software platforms, products, and solutions.
  • Effectively communicate software architecture and design ideas to other software engineering team members through code, textual documentation, and visual representations as needed.
  • Take ownership and accountability for the work delivered by the team.
  • Improve the scalability and maintainability of applications.
  • Document and share design and architecture insights.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members.
  • Identify and recruit skilled integration engineers to meet business needs.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Create onboarding documentation for chapter members.
  • Lead and manage engineering teams, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Ensure that application designs conform to business objectives.
  • Transform requirements into specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and achieve project objectives.
  • Strategically plan and execute long-term technology roadmaps.
  • Contribute to all stages of the software development lifecycle.
  • Represent the engineering team in executive meetings and decision-making processes.

 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 10 - 18 years of experience with java, J2EE, integration tools / technologies 
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related STEM fields, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in Java, Spring Boot, OAuth, OIDC2, REST, and SOAP.
  • Experience with Enterprise Integration frameworks, such as Apache Camel (preferred), Spring Integrator, Mule, and Apache ServiceMix.
  • Hands-on experience with messaging technologies, particularly Kafka.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments, preferably Azure.
  • Knowledge of containerization using Docker and deployment using Kubernetes.
  • Experience in DevOps practices and tools like Jenkins, GitLab, and Azure DevOps.
  • Exposure to database management systems, including SQL and MongoDB (NoSQL).
  • Strong understanding of engineering practices, such as Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD), unit testing, SONARQube, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
  • Knowledge of the Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance domain is critical.
  • Nice to have: Strong knowledge of transformation tools like XSLT.
  • Nice to have: Experience with Volante.
