Product Stewardship Specialist IISummary:
This position is responsible for safeguarding business continuity and enabling sustainable growth by ensuring full compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements governing products and related business activities. The role provides technical expertise to resolve complex regulatory and product stewardship challenges while aligning practices with Global Product Stewardship goals, policies, and procedures.The role ensures product compliance to support both current operations and future growth initiatives. This includes executing transactional regulatory processes to maintain day-to-day compliance with hazard communication regulations for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
Key responsibilities include the preparation, review, and maintenance of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and product labels, as well as providing regulatory approvals for New Product Introductions (NPI), product extensions, and product translation processes. The position actively participates in change management initiatives and delivers regulatory guidance and support to internal stakeholders and external customers.
Additionally, this role contributes to the development of new regulatory concepts, techniques, and standards, while driving continuous improvement in product safety, hazard communication, regulatory systems, and process enhancements to ensure operational excellence and compliance integrity. system support.
Responsibilities Include:
- Prepare and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and product labels using established systems and processes, ensuring accurate representation of finished product compositions and properties, and compliance with applicable regional regulations for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products
- Manage material introductions, including classification and labelling activities, incorporating dangerous goods classifications in collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- Initiate and coordinate Notification of Change (NOC) processes in alignment with regulatory and business requirements.
- Lead and contribute to projects related to SDS creation, review, and maintenance
- Support SAP data management activities to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and system integrity.
- Participate in Management of Change (MOC) processes.
- Establish, track, and report performance metrics for assigned workstreams, aligning with global reporting requirements to measure and communicate progress toward compliance.
- Provide reporting support to the broader Product Stewardship (PS) team as required.
- Stay current on key regulatory trends, industry developments, and emerging opportunities relevant to the function
- Drive continuous process improvement by reinforcing best practices and identifying enhancement opportunities.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of a knowledge repository by capturing learnings and insights from both formal initiatives and informal experiences.
- Support the site’s Product Stewardship and Regional Business needs.
- Collaborate with global customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to support hazard communication and regulatory compliance objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure clear communication and timely, effective responses
Qualifications:
The following are required for the role
- Technical degree in Engineering, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biology, Life Science, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, Public Health or equivalent
- Minimum 8 - 11 years, relevant experience in the chemical or related industry in the area of Product Stewardship and Regulatory Compliance/ Environmental Health and Safety/Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene or other applicable experience.
- Strong working knowledge of product regulatory legislation and regulation in the regions/countries within job scope.
- Flexibility to focus on chemistry-related topics, customer support and fulfilling legal requirements.
- Business Acumen, ability to inform business and influence decision making.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work, lead, and manage across functions in a global matrix organization, while effectively engaging internal and external customers with a high level of commitment and responsiveness to their needs
- Proven organizational and project management skills. Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Computer literate in standard office systems, SDS authoring platforms.
- Position requires availability for global calls and interactions, may have to be open to flexible working hours to overlap with the business day in case of supporting different time zones.
- Able to travel, including internationally, as needed and work in a chemical plant environment.
