Project Manager – GDC
Summary
We are looking for a Project Manager to lead delivery of GDC Services for Guidewire’s Japanese P&C insurance customers. In this customer-facing role, you will manage the planning and execution of service offerings, working closely with customers, systems integrators, and internal Guidewire teams.You will be responsible for end‐to‐end project management (scope, schedule, budget, risks, and resources), project P&L, and regular reporting to leadership, while ensuring consistent, high‐quality delivery and identifying opportunities to extend Global delivery services.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities / Expectations
• Ensure consistent delivery of GDC service offerings across assigned customer engagements, following Guidewire standards and methodologies.
• Support, define, and execute on Global Delivery Center (GDC) strategic initiatives that are relevant to its services.
• Work closely with the Resource Management Office (RMO), in partnership with the GDC Portfolio Director, to adjust resource requests and assignments required to carry out the services.
• Effectively manage the project P&L, ensuring delivery within budget and providing regular financial and status updates to the appropriate leadership channels.
• Partner with customers, SIs, and the primary Guidewire Project Manager delivering the implementation to align on plans and dependencies for each GDC offering.
• Coordinate internal resources (developers, test engineers, architects, and other specialists) to ensure projects adhere to agreed scope, schedule, and budget.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with relevant customer stakeholders, acting as the day‐to‐day contact for project status, scope changes, and issues.
• Report project outcomes and risks to internal and external management channels and escalate issues, as needed, that could impact Services delivery commitments.
• Identify and position additional Global Delivery Centre Services opportunities on active projects in collaboration with Sales/Account and portfolio leadership.
• Demonstrate flexibility to occasionally travel on‐site to customers, including visits to Japan for key workshops, planning, and milestones.
Required Skills & Experience
Language & Communication
• Proficiency in Japanese, preferably with JLPT N1 or N2 certification.
• Strong English communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with senior stakeholders in Business and IT.
• Very strong communication and stakeholder management skills, suited to fast‐paced projects requiring frequent interaction and alignment.
• Demonstrated negotiation skills in challenging delivery situations.
Project & Delivery
• Wide experience handling Japanese clients, including day‐to‐day project interactions and expectation management.
• 8 - 12 years of hands‐on experience with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies to ensure release delivery, controls, issue resolution, and risk mitigation.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain processes for managing scope during the project, setting quality standards, and assessing and mitigating risks.
• Experience managing and delivering P&C insurance‐based implementations (self‐managed or cloud/SaaS), including understanding of relevant business processes.
• Experience working with people across multiple geographies, coordinating
distributed, cross‐functional teams.
• Strong ability to direct a team and achieve needed deliverables, driving accountability and clear ownership.
• Demonstrated skill in working with implementation partners and running
multi‐functional projects with multiple vendors and stakeholders.
Industry & Technical
• Solid understanding of the P&C insurance industry to support effective functional and technical discussions with customers.
• Technical background, ideally in a SaaS environment, with enough depth to
understand solution architectures, integrations, and technical constraints.
• End‐user experience with Salesforce and PSA tools for managing projects, financials, and resources (e.g., forecasting, time tracking, margins, and utilization).
