Senior Engineer II

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop scalable backend services and APIs for the GBT mid and back-office operations
  • Build and maintain a microservices architecture using Java and Spring Boot
  • Implement and optimize database solutions using PostgreSQL
  • Deploy and manage applications on AWS cloud infrastructure, particularly ROSA (Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS)
  • Manage EC2 instances and related AWS services for optimal performance
  • Provide application support, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions
  • Participate in code reviews, system design discussions, and technical documentation
  • Monitor system performance and implement improvements for scalability and reliability
  • Support production environments and participate in on-call rotations as needed

What We're Looking For

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of professional Java development experience
  • Strong expertise in Java 8+ and object-oriented programming principles
  • Extensive experience with Spring Boot framework and Spring ecosystem
  • Proficient in PostgreSQL database design, optimization, and management
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, particularly EC2 and ROSA (Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS)
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems
  • Experience in application support and production troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of RESTful API design and development
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the travel industry or TMC operations
  • Knowledge of additional AWS services (RDS, Lambda, S3, etc.)
  • Experience with message queuing systems (RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka)
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Must be willing and able to work on 2nd shifts (3:00 PM IST to 12:00 AM IST) and occasional weekends as required.
  • Must be willing to work from the Bangalore office for a minimum of 3 days per week.

Application Support & Maintenance:

  • Provide L2/L3 application support for Java-based GBT mid and back office systems
  • Monitor system health, performance metrics, and proactively identify potential issues
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, bugs, and performance bottlenecks
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes for recurring
