Job Summary:
PayPal seeks an experienced Senior Payroll Accountant to join the Controllership Global Payroll Accounting team supporting the APJ, EMEA, North American and Latin American region. The successful candidate will work well in a fast-paced environment, learn quickly, and possess strong payroll accounting expertise. The ability to manage relationships cross-functionally through clear communication of goals and objectives is extremely important.Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will execute and manage complex monthly close activities, including:
- Prepare account fluctuation analysis, identify key drivers, and explain monthly and quarterly activity. Maintain S4 BW account fluctuation reports.
- Reconcile payroll GL accounts including the payroll funding cash clearing account.
- Perform clearing for open item managed accounts.
- Prepare account fluctuation analysis, identify key drivers, and explain monthly and quarterly activity.
- Follow process for clearing payment activity for taxes on stock vesting and other clearing activity processed by payroll. Research offsets and how to clear where needed. Review monthly activity to ensure adherence to regular clearing.
- Monitor and assist in resolving issues with interface activity between payroll and accounting systems. This includes maintaining support for manual correction of interfaces.
- Develop a strong understanding of payroll and GL systems and processes. Maintain documentation of these systems and processes.
- Assist with research and resolution of payroll issues. Communicate and document clearly and concisely results of research or resolutions to issues.
- Assist Payroll Operations Team with changes to GL account mapping, testing, and implementation.
- Provide payroll analysis and documentation for support of audits.
- Process SAP assessments for global fringe benefits. Monitor and validate results from the fringe process.
- Record, prepare, and post numerous recurring and one-time journal entries.
- Prepare and maintain monthly global close tracker, various payroll and management reports.
- Perform various other duties in support of PayPal’s business objectives.
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:
Qualifications
- CA (India), CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification
- 10+ years of relevant accounting experience (knowledge in payroll accounting is preferred). Experience at a large, growth-focused company a plus.
- Experience in US payroll, US payroll tax compliance is preferred.
- Solid experience with S4 HANA and BW, ADP Global View and ADP Celergo is a plus.
- MS Office proficiency includes advanced Excel capabilities.
- Strong technical knowledge of payroll accounting processes and compliance requirements across North America and Latin America.
- Strong understanding of internal controls and SOX
- Familiarity with statutory, regulatory, and government reporting requirements and applicable laws across Latin America jurisdictions
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify process improvement opportunities
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while managing multiple priorities

Work Environment and Expectations
- Schedule: Standard full-time position; may require extended hours during month-end and year-end close periods (Days -6 through Day 2)
- Travel: Minimal travel
- Remote Eligibility: Hybrid arrangement available based on company policy
