Position Summary

Develops and executes security controls, defenses and countermeasures to intercept and prevent internal or external attacks or attempts to infiltrate company email, data, e-commerce and web-based systems. Maintains hardware, software and network firewalls and encryption protocols. Administers cybersecurity policies to control physical and virtual access to systems. Performs network security audits and testing and evaluates system security configurations to ensure efficacy and compliance with policies and procedures. Conducts penetration testing and vulnerability assessments of applications, operating systems and/or networks. Responds to cybersecurity breaches, identifies intrusions and isolates, blocks and removes unauthorized access. Researches and evaluates cybersecurity threats and performs root cause analysis. Assists in the creation and implementation of security solutions. Provides information to management regarding impact on the business caused by theft, destruction, alteration or denial of access to information and systems. May be internal or external, client-focused, working in conjunction with Professional Services and Outsourcing functions. May include company-wide, web-enabled solutions. Individuals whose primary focus is on developing, testing, debugging and deploying code or processing routines that support security protocols for an established system or systems should be matched to the appropriate Programmer family in the Information Technology function. Employees focused on administering and hardening internal processes and systems against outside penetration and attack may match here or to Information Security Engineer. Employees who monitor systems for intrusions and respond to cybersecurity incidents should be matched to Incident Response. Employees focused on ensuring products (including websites) and hosted networks are designed and developed to be cyber-safe and compliant are typically matched to Product Security Engineer or to one of our software development engineering roles. For cloud databases, may be matched to Storage Engineer or for hosted networks, to Network Engineer or Network Systems Administrator.
