Team Overview

PowerSchool is seeking a Engineer for its School Messenger product. This position, under the general direction of the Lead and Manager, Software Engineering, will be responsible for technical development for our award-winning K-12 software. This role will include code, build, develop new features, maintain existing features, and reporting features for School Messenger product. In detail this role is responsible for working on highly technical, complex software projects in order to develop technical solutions and services which are cost effective while meeting the business needs of the Company. Lead activities throughout the entire software development life cycle providing consultative advice and direction to development team. Analyse and review functional and performance requirements to support design architecture, providing alternative solutions as necessary.

The Software Engineering team is a group of full stack developers who design, develop, and maintain our products, tools, and infrastructure.

Your day-to-day job will consist of:

 

• Participate in, complex software projects in order to develop technical solutions and services which are cost effective while meeting the business needs of the Company.• Analyze and review functional and performance requirements to support design architecture, providing alternative architectural solutions as necessary.• Perform troubleshooting and issue resolution throughout project ensuring issues are brought to resolution and on-going communication with project team.• Ensure proper documentation during all stages of the project.• Lead the development of software solutions in order to ensure that the solution architecture is translated into high-quality, maintainable, secure, and efficient code that follows established development guidelines.• Participate in activities throughout the entire software development life cycle providing consultative advise and direction to development team.• Coach and mentor project team members to ensure thorough understanding of project tasks and company goals.• Conduct code reviews to verify design and provide corrective action where necessary.• Monitor and conduct regression testing in entirety to ensure negative impacts do not result once program alterations are completed.• Cooperate with team members to meet goals or complete tasks.• Able to work with external team for product take over or integrations or collaboration.• Work as part of an Agile SCRUM team in the planning, scoping, estimation and execution of technical solutions.• Work within a wide range of new and legacy code and technologies in a mature codebase.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years of relevant and related work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
• 5+ years of coding experience on C#, DOT.NET Core, and microservices.
• 5+ years of React or Bootstrap UI development experience for creating responsive and user-friendly interface.
• 3+ years of MySql, and caching data development.
• 3+ years of clouding computering & IaC experience on AWS services (Lambda, ElasticBeanStalk, RDS, S3, Cloudformation, etc.) for seamless deployment and scalability.
• 3+ years knowledge on automated BDD, Jmeter and cloud testing framework to ensure consistent code quality.
• 5+ years’ experience working on agile development teams.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Maintains strong attention to detail in high-pressure situations.
• Solid understanding of business practices with fundamental understanding of project management methodology.
