Senior Staff Software Development Engineer (iOS)

Job Summary: As a Senior Staff Software Engineer – iOS, you will be responsible for building performant and resilient iOS applications and frameworks that deliver exceptional user experiences. You’ll lead mobile architecture decisions, promote engineering best practices, and contribute to both core platform improvements and feature development. This role requires close collaboration with product, design, and engineering teams to ship impactful features while ensuring long-term codebase quality and scalability. About the team: JioHotstar's world-record-breaking OTT platform is available in India, the international market. We are home to India's largest entertainment content catalog for the Indian diaspora in the UK. We are hiring senior engineers for our UK and international teams to develop systems that drive business growth in the country. This is a unique opportunity to work across the JioHotstar tech stack and work on the most impactful projects. You will contribute to the common stack, build frameworks to offer geography-specific differentiated features and create subscriber and business growth platform for the company.

What will you do?

  • Influence and lead architecture and design discussions within the team.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality projects with a focus on impact and excellence.
  • Establish and enhance engineering standards, drive codebase consistency, and implement processes to promote the adoption of best practices across the team.
  • Take ownership of scaling mobile app development across Engineering, providing valuable insights to refine processes and tools, supporting additional contributors in architecture and codeTake care of the development infrastructure (Xcode updates, iOS updates, swift updates)Mind app performance metrics to draw conclusions and drive change Lead modernization efforts (e.g., moving from legacy APIs and UI tools to latest patterns).
  • Collaborate closely with other engineers, product managers, and designers.
  • Mentor and empower iOS developers across teams.
  • Additionally, contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives by authoring insightful blogs on mobile innovation and organizing brown bag sessions and technical talks to foster a culture of continuous learning.

    • Who should apply for this role?

  • Proficiency in Mobile Architecture: Strong understanding of mobile architectural patterns, system design, and scalable code structures.
  • Deep Expertise in iOS Development: Extensive experience building and scaling complex iOS applications using Swift and SwiftUI, with a strong grasp of UIKit, Combine, concurrency, memory management, and debugging tools.
  • Performance & Tooling Focus: Experience optimizing app startup time, reducing crash rates, and building internal tools or frameworks to improve developer productivity.
  • Driving Best Practices: Proficient in setting up CI/CD pipelines, static analysis tools, test automation, and processes that promote performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Knack for problem solving and ability to work in ambiguity.
  • Strong communication, mentorship, and collaborative skills.
