Performance Test Engineer – Skills & Requirements

Performance Testing Fundamentals

• Strong understanding of performance testing concepts, types, and methodologies including Load, Stress, Soak, and Spike testing

• Knowledge of key performance metrics such as Response Time, Throughput, Latency, and Error Rate

• Experience defining performance test scenarios, workload models, and capacity planning strategies

Performance Testing Tools

• Hands-on experience with Apache Software Foundation Apache JMeter

• Ability to design, develop, and execute performance test scripts for web, mobile, and API-based applications

• Experience creating reusable and scalable test frameworks for performance validation

Programming & Scripting

• Proficiency in Java / JavaScript / Groovy for scripting and enhancing test cases

• Experience writing custom scripts in JMeter using BeanShell and Groovy

API & Web Services Testing

• Strong knowledge of REST and SOAP API performance testing using JMeter

• Experience with Postman for API functional validation prior to performance testing

Performance Monitoring & Analysis

• Ability to analyze test results and identify system bottlenecks across CPU, Memory, Disk, and Network

• Familiarity with monitoring and profiling tools such as:

  • New Relic

  • Grafana Labs (Grafana)

  • AppDynamics

  • Dynatrace

  • Prometheus

  • Intel PresentMon (for game/application performance analysis)
