Polaris is seeking a qualified tariff classification expert. This position requires a deep working knowledge of various country tariffs, as well as the respective country’s rulings, decisions, and other authoritative publications to maintain a compliant classification program.
The ideal candidate will be highly skilled at successfully arguing and defending accurate classification positions, as well as drafting, submitting, and monitoring ruling requests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct research and establish Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications across multiple regions by applying legal notes, Rulings and country specific regulatory requirement.
Review and interpret engineering drawings, datasheets, and MSDS to support accurate classification and update in ERP system
Coordinate with suppliers to secure blanket statements, optimizing compliance *Coordinate with engineering teams and suppliers to obtain additional technical details required for precise HTS classification. Processes and saving time.
Adhere to established escalation procedures and ensure timely completion of tasks.
Develop HTS classification rationale documents for products as required.
Support the Free Trade team in resolving HTS‑related queries and expedite product classification for BOM qualification and supplier Solicitation.
Collaborate with Engineering teams to gain a thorough understanding of product features and specifications, ensuring accurate classification.
Conduct periodic reviews of customs rulings and assess their impact on Polaris classification logic and rationales.
Contribute to building an effective Classification decision tool.
Assisting on live Broker requests and working on import audit process.
Complete and update compliance forms (DOT, NRCan, TC tire, etc.) and COO details and Perform compliance audits such as DOT, licensing requirements, COO, etc.
Handle Section 232 tasks and ADD/CVD processes.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Minimum Qualifications:
Any degree in engineering background (Mechanical engineering or Automobile engineering will be an added advantage)
2-4 years of HTS experience. (Automotive experience is added advantage).
Strong knowledge of the Harmonized System (HS) and its structure, including the rules, regulations, and guidelines/Legal notes for accurate product classification.
Skilled in interpreting technical Drawings, BOM, Material compositions.
Proficiency in Microsoft office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).
Good networking skills, along with verbal and written communication skills.
Agility in handling varied tasks and managing multiple tasks.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Standard office environment.
Work shift 12:30 PM IST to 9:30 PM IST.
