Summary of the role:

SRE Operations Manager; Digital Planning & Foundations (India) is a leadership role in our Global Talent Hub responsible for establishing Value Stream Observability, build and accelerate Chatbots to speed issue resolution, continuously seek opportunities to drive reliability through improvements in products and platforms, AI agents, and automation. This role ensures impact of product/platform incidents are managed end-to-end to complete resolution. The manager will report to the Director Operations, Brand Ops, Supply Chain and serve as their squads’ technology and observability leader and be key liaison to our engineering squads (acting as the “eyes and ears on the ground” for global engineering leadership).

The mission is to drive an “Automation and AI-first” transformation in how our teams provide platform support to the applications within the value stream.

About the role:

This role is expected to evolve as our AI maturity grows. In its first phase, a heavy focus will be on jump-starting and implementing Observability, Chatbots, and AI usage by demonstrating quick wins (hence the PoCs and pilots).

  • Design, implement, and maintain observability frameworks (monitoring, logging, tracing) across the value stream.

  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and postmortem processes to continuously improve reliability.

  • Automate infrastructure and operational workflows.

  • Integrate AI/ML-driven observability tools for predictive monitoring and anomaly detection.

  • Partner with product, supply chain, and brand teams to align reliability practices with strategic goals.

  • Advance ITSM maturity by strengthening incident, problem, and change management processes.

  • Champion “You Build It, You Run It” principles, fostering ownership and accountability across engineering teams.

  • Mentor and coach engineers on best practices in observability, reliability, and automation.

About you:

Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 10+ years of experience in software engineering or technology roles, with at least 3–5 years in leadership positions.

Knowledge, Skills, &Abilities:

  • Proven experience as an SRE, DevOps Engineer, or Reliability Engineer in complex, distributed systems.

  • Strong expertise with observability tools.

  • Familiarity with AI/ML-driven monitoring solutions is a plus.

  • Solid understanding of ITSM frameworks and operational maturity models.

  • Excellent communication skills—able to translate technical reliability metrics into business impact.

  • Calm, structured leadership during incidents and crises.

Reporting Structure and Location

This position reports to the Director Operations, Brand Ops, Supply Chain (the head of Operations for those functions). The role will be based in India (within Levi Strauss & Co.’s Global Capability Center). As the senior representative of the Operations function in India, the Manager will have dotted-line oversight of relevant offshore team members and will coordinate closely with onshore engineering directors and managers. Primarily works in an office environment or remote home office.

Job requires the following physical activities:

Working at a computer and video display terminal more than 50 % of the time.
