Staff Software Development Engineer - Backend

Job Summary: As a Staff engineer, the role entails a passion to contribute significantly to the design of platforms by solving complex technical problems and building systems that run at an enormous scale. Your skills will be essential in addressing intricate technical challenges, constructing scalable systems, and guiding the team to realize their maximum potential!

About the team: This is a rare opportunity to architect a foundational layer of the company’s traffic and routing infrastructure. You’ll be solving complex problems at scale — from evolving our API gateway stack to building a powerful traffic abstraction platform and enabling reliable, high-performance delivery across multiple clouds and CDNs.
Your work will directly impact how services are exposed, secured, and observed across the company, making this one of the most impactful engineering roles in the organization.

What will you do?

  • Design and build scalable, resilient microservices that power JioStar’s ad tech stack
  • Own end-to-end delivery of complex backend projects, from technical design to deployment and monitoring
  • Write high-quality, maintainable code, and ensure rigorous testing and fault tolerance
  • Drive architectural decisions and influence long-term engineering strategy for the team
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and cross-functional teams to translate business needs into tech solutions
  • Take ownership of operational excellence, including performance tuning, incident response, and root cause analysis
  • Mentor junior engineers, conduct technical deep dives and code reviews, and foster a culture of knowledge sharing

    • Who should apply for this role?

  • Strong coding and designing skills (Java or Golang)
  • Experience in building high-scale distributed domain-driven microservices
  • Proficiency with databases like MySQL, NoSql (Cassandra, Redis, DynamoDB) 
  • Embrace new technologies and work with various tools and technologies to achieve the desired functionality
  • Experience with AWS stacks like SQS, Dynamo DB, EKS, Aurora, etc. will be an added advantage
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues in production environments
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and collaborate well within a team environment to achieve desired results
