System Architect Leader
The Principal Pega Architect leader is a strategic, highly influential technical leader responsible for defining, guiding, and governing the optimal use of the Pega platform across the enterprise. This role requires mastery of Pega architecture, deep technical expertise, and the ability to translate complex business needs into scalable, robust, and forward-looking Pega solutions. The Principal Architect sets technical direction, mentors senior technical staff, drives innovation, ensures adherence to best practices and architectural principles, and plays a key role in shaping the organization's Pega platform strategy and roadmap. This individual acts as the ultimate technical authority for Pega solutions, ensuring they deliver significant business value while maintaining platform health, security, and maintainability.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Strategic Solution Design & Architecture Leadership:
- Lead the conceptual and logical architecture design for large-scale, complex Pega-based BPM/CRM solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles and business strategy.
- Interpret complex customer needs and strategic business objectives into viable, high-level Pega solution designs and platform roadmaps.
- Define and govern enterprise-class structure, data modeling best practices, and integration strategies for Pega solutions within the broader application ecosystem.
- Perform broad and detailed impact assessments across people, process, and technology dimensions to evaluate proposed solutions and architectural changes.
- Champion and oversee the application of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) principles within Pega development lifecycles to build in quality from the start.
- Technical Governance & Quality Assurance:
- Establish, refine, and enforce Pega technical standards, best practices, design patterns, and coding conventions across development teams.
- Review and validate the application technical designs proposed by LSA/SSAs and development teams, ensuring alignment with business needs, architectural integrity, and efficient use of platform capabilities.
- Identify and proactively address potential functional design issues, architectural risks, and technical debt; propose and evaluate effective alternative solutions.
- Define strategies and oversee the implementation of robust testing approaches (including AUT, scenario-based testing) ensuring appropriate test coverage and adherence to quality standards.
- Conduct audits and reviews to ensure development, testing, and deployment processes adhere to established standards and guidelines.
- Platform Strategy & Innovation:
- Conduct system studies and analyze existing processes (computerized and manual) to identify opportunities for significant efficiency gains through Pega solutions and automation.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend advanced Pega features, frameworks (e.g., Pega Constellation, industry frameworks), related technologies, and techniques for automation and process optimization.
- Contribute significantly to the Pega platform roadmap, including version upgrades, infrastructure strategy (Cloud/on-premise), and adoption of new Pega capabilities.
- Analyze and make strategic recommendations regarding system backup, security posture, restart/recovery mechanisms, balancing controls, data conversion approaches, and data modeling standards for Pega applications.
- Mentorship & Technical Leadership:
- Provide high-level technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to Lead System Architects, Senior System Architects, and Pega developers.
- Monitor and mentor technical staff to ensure accuracy of program logic, adherence to architectural designs, and efficient use of platform resources.
- Act as a key technical liaison between business stakeholders (including Product Owners), development teams, enterprise architecture, and infrastructure teams.
- Support business partners in building robust Lean Business Cases and effectively breaking down epics into features suitable for Pega implementation.
- Agile Collaboration & Delivery Oversight:
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners and teams to ensure delivered code and acceptance tests accurately reflect desired functionality and meet acceptance criteria.
- Ensure development teams effectively break down features, write clear user stories with accurate acceptance criteria, and consistently deliver high-quality working code each sprint.
Oversee and support complex implementation activities, acting as a senior escalation point for troubleshooting challenging user, system, environmental, or integration issues
