Tax Manager-Fin
Reporting to the VP of Non-Income-Based Taxes (NIBT) team, this managerial role will be responsible for managing the company’s indirect tax function, including sales and use tax, VAT/GST, property tax, excise, and other non-income-based taxes. This role provides technical oversight, people leadership, and execution accountability to ensure accurate, timely compliance across multiple jurisdictions while proactively managing tax risk. This role is critical to reducing indirect tax exposure, maintaining audit readiness, and supporting the company’s growth in an increasingly complex global tax environment. While the manager will do global non-income-based tax compliance, including sales and use tax, VAT/GST, property and excise taxes, ensuring accurate filings, audit readiness, risk mitigation, and strong cross-functional coordination, the candidate must be fluent in Spanish to start managing Oracle's NIBT compliance in Brazil immediately.
The Manager NIBT will oversee the preparation, review, and filing of NIBT returns, evaluates complex transactions to determine proper tax treatment, and monitors legislative and regulatory changes impacting indirect taxes. This role will manage and coordinate internal and external resources to implement company tax savings strategies and ensure accurate and timely filing of returns and coordinate with Tax litigation and external advisory wherever necessary. This role will also lead audits, inquiries, and controversy matters, serving as a primary point of contact with tax authorities and external advisors, and ensuring positions are well-documented and defensible. Additionally, this role will partner closely with Accounting, Finance, Operations, and other internal teams to ensure the integrity of tax-relevant data, strengthen controls, and improve processes supporting indirect tax compliance. The Manager develops and coaches team members, driving consistent application of tax policies, quality standards, and continuous improvement.
- Lead preparation, review, and timely filing of non-income-based tax returns, including sales and use tax, VAT/GST, property tax, excise, and other indirect taxes across multiple jurisdictions.
- Start by managing Oracle's NIBT compliance in Brazil which necessitates that the candidate is fluent in Spanish.
- Provide technical review and guidance on complex transactions to ensure correct indirect tax treatment and compliance.
- Manage NIBT audits, inquiries, and controversy matters, including coordinating responses and supporting resolution strategies.
- Monitor and interpret changes in indirect tax laws and regulations; assess and communicate business impacts.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce NIBT processes, controls, and documentation to ensure audit readiness.
- Partner with Accounting, Finance, and Operations to ensure accuracy and completeness of tax-relevant data.
- Identify and mitigate indirect tax risks, including exposure assessments and control gaps.
- Manages and oversees impact of international tax laws and regulations on Oracle's Tax obligations.
- Manage and develop NIBT team members through coaching, review, and performance management.
- Coordinate with external advisors and service providers supporting indirect tax compliance and audits.
- May be involved with tax implications of mergers and acquisitions.
- Support business initiatives by providing indirect tax input during planning and execution.
- Represent the company on tax matters in government, professional, and industry associations.
- Drive process improvements, standardization, and efficiency within the NIBT function.
