Description

Amazon is seeking a Tax Manager based in Bangalore, India. The candidate must be comfortable directly liaising with various business teams within the company with an aim of gaining a deep understanding of the business vision and model in order to develop comprehensive tax solutions in support of the business, develop tax requirements that clearly articulate such solutions, and drive the implementation of the tax requirements. This role will be responsible for overseeing direct and indirect tax matters related to planning opportunities, business launches and expansions, operations and policy. The ideal candidate should be able to work with a high level of collegiality.

Key job responsibilities
• Analyzing business transactions and initiatives from a direct tax and indirect lens for the Amazon Stores business, partnering with stakeholders and functioning as an inhouse tax adviser
• Researching on tax matters and working with external advisers on technical topics
• Providing end to end Tax Requirement for business projects and providing direct tax subject matter expertise to various business lines including business, legal, accounting, etc.
• Reviewing new law changes and impact of those to Amazon’s Stores business
• Researching and advising on various direct and indirect tax matters for residents and non-residents (examples - withholding tax position, tax treaty position, permanent establishment position etc.).
• Working closely with internal tax teams like Transfer Pricing and Tax Reporting, and external advisers, for review of tax compliances and forms, agreement, and such other documentation.
• Identifying and support tax compliance initiatives.
• Supporting Mergers and Acquisitions deals from an overall tax point and driving implementation for full acquisitions

Basic Qualifications

- 6+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Experience with Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Essbase and Oracle Financial Applications
- Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
- CPA

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience maintaining and operating transaction tax calculation software (e.g. Vertex)
- CPA, or J.D.
