Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 8 years of experience in program management.
  
• 5 years of experience in leadership role with/without direct reports.
  

Preferred qualifications:

• 8 years of experience managing cross-functional/team projects.
  
• Experience with Unix/Linux administration, with scripting/coding.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals, network routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS) and physical infrastructure.
• Understanding of ISP network operations or experience in enterprise/IT network infrastructure support.
• Ability to employ good troubleshooting skills and creative problem solving abilities under pressure.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.

In this role, your priority is not just to handle the operational events and maintain our Service Level Objectives (SLOs)/services but also to try to stop it from happening again. If you can’t stop it from happening, you will minimize the efforts needed to handle it by expanding boundaries and learning new technologies as you go and use those new technologies as a team multiplier.

Responsibilities

• Solve systemic network, workflow, process, or tooling problems.
• Provide an effective interface between Global Network Operations (GNO) and adjacent groups.
• Drive continuous improvement of team and overall cohesion to the team.
• Provide observation and coaching of team members to support performance improvement, and provide performance evaluation feedback and career development support for team members.
• Draft, assign and provide technical evaluation of results of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for reporters.
