Responsibilities

Project Management:

  • Supervise the construction and maintenance of high-pressure grids, city gas stations, and Geographical Area (GA) distribution networks.
  • Manage the use of electrofusion for sealing polyethylene pipes and welding for steel pipes to ensure the durability of connections.
  • Oversee the installation and operation of gas chromatographs at city gate stations (CGS) for quality control.
  • Opt for a loop distribution system over a tree system for enhanced reliability and ease of maintenance.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams to deliver infrastructure projects on time and within budget while meeting all technical specifications.
  • Establishing liaison with local authorities to obtain permission for activities such as excavation, drilling, and boring.

Operations & Maintenance (O&M):

  • Oversee the pressure reduction, filtration, safety protocol, and odorization processes to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Conduct functional tests of pipelines and isolation valves to maintain system integrity.
  • Manage meter reading checks and ensure accuracy between ministry meters and check meters.
  • Implement permanent cathodic protection to prevent corrosion of metal structures.
  • Coordinate utility services to avoid conflicts and maintain the goodwill of the company.
  • Maintain high pressure in tap-offs to ensure efficient gas distribution to industrial and commercial customers.
  • Develop and implement predictive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of infrastructure assets.

Strategic Financial Planning & Infrastructure Development:

  • Analyze market trends, demand, cost of infrastructure, safety requirements, and existing infrastructure to inform strategic decisions.
  • Evaluate terrain and other environmental factors to optimize the design and routing of the gas distribution network.
  • Develop long-term growth strategies for Geographical Areas (GAs) in alignment with the company's vision and market opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the finance department to manage billing and recovery processes for domestic customers.
  • Oversee budgeting and cost control measures for regional operations to maximize profitability and efficiency.
  • Integrate financial planning with infrastructure development to ensure sustainable growth and operational excellence.
  • Implement strategic initiatives to prioritize capital and expansion projects that align with geographical areas, regional and corporate objectives.

Supply Chain & Vendor Management:

  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers such as GSPC or import suppliers to secure favorable terms and ensure a reliable supply of gas.
  • Coordinate with transporters like GSPL to manage the logistics of gas distribution effectively.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with third-party vendors for site surveys and recommendations.
  • Implement advanced supply chain analytics to optimize inventory levels and reduce storage expenses.
  • Establish a vendor performance evaluation system to ensure quality and adherence to service level agreements.

Customer Relations & Market Expansion:

  • Engage with domestic and CNG customers to understand their needs and ensure high satisfaction levels.
  • Expand the company's presence by identifying and developing new commercial and industrial customer segments.
  • Launch customer feedback mechanisms to drive improvements in service delivery and product offerings.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to create targeted campaigns for different customer demographics.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with key industry players to enhance market reach and services.

Digitization and Automation:

  • Oversee the implementation of digital metering solutions to enhance accuracy in billing and reduce discrepancies.
  • Integrate GIS (Geographic Information Systems) for efficient pipeline management and to support decision-making for infrastructure expansion.
  • Automate the pressure and leak detection systems to improve response times and safety measures.
  • Develop and implement a digital strategy for the transition to smart grids and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI).

People and Team Management:

  • Foster a culture of high performance and continuous improvement within the technical services team.
  • Mentor and develop staff to build a strong leadership pipeline and enhance team capabilities.
  • Implement a talent management strategy to attract, retain, and develop skilled professionals.

Qualifications

Educational Qualification:

Bachelor's in Engineering / B.Tech. with a preference for a Master's in Business Administration

Work Experience:

7+ years of experience

Preferred Industry:

Experience in gas distribution, oil and energy, utilities, or related sectors with a focus on physical and corporate security management.
