Job Title: Assistant Mines Manager

Department: Mining Operations

Location: PAN India (as per business requirement)

Reports To: Mines Manager / Head – Mining Operations

Role Purpose: The Assistant Mines Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing mining operations for the cement business. This role is responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, compliance with safety and environmental standards, and achieving production targets. The role demands strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to operational excellence and sustainability.

  • Educational Qualification: Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or related field
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Mining Management
  • Certification: Mandatory: Mines Manager Certificate of Competency (Unrestricted) under MMR 1961
  • Preferred: First Class Mines Manager Certificate
  • Experience:5–10 years of relevant experience in the cement industry’s mining operations
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale mining activities
  • Hands-on experience in safety compliance, environmental regulations, and team management
  • Key Responsibilities: Supervise day-to-day mining operations, including drilling, blasting, excavation, and hauling
  • Develop and implement short-term and long-term mine plans to meet production targets
  • Ensure strict compliance with mining safety laws, environmental regulations, and company policies
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and implement corrective measures to mitigate hazards
  • Manage and optimize utilization of machinery, manpower, and resources efficiently
  • Lead and mentor a team of supervisors, operators, and technicians in safe and productive mining practices
  • Collaborate with the production, maintenance, environmental, and quality teams for smooth operations
  • Prepare and submit statutory reports and documents to regulatory authorities as required
  • Drive initiatives for cost optimization, productivity enhancement, and sustainable practices
  • Support in regulatory inspections, audits, and liaison with local authorities
  • Monitor equipment performance, breakdowns, and maintenance schedules
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in mine planning, production scheduling, and equipment management
  • Familiarity with mine design software (e.g., Surpac, Minex, Datamine, AutoCAD)
  • Strong understanding of blasting techniques, material handling, and resource extraction methods
  • In-depth knowledge of mining safety protocols, environmental compliance, and statutory regulations
  • Budgeting, cost control, and resource optimization
  • Behavioural Skills: Leadership and decision-making abilities under operational pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage cross-functional teams
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking
  • Effective communication and reporting skills
  • High adaptability to dynamic work conditions, remote site locations, and operational challenges
  • Commitment to safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement
  • Non-Negotiable Requirements: Proven expertise in cement industry mining operations
  • Holding an Unrestricted Mines Manager Certificate under MMR 1961 (compulsory)
  • Sound knowledge of mining laws, DGMS guidelines, and environmental compliance
  • Strong ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams
